The non-governmental organization (NGO) "35mm" strongly condemns the attack on the editor-in-chief of "Monitor" Esad Kočan and calls on the competent authorities to reveal the circumstances of the attack as soon as possible and to determine an adequate punishment for the perpetrator, the NGO announced today.

They also said that they insist on stricter punishments for all those who threaten, attack and endanger the lives of journalists and destroy media property.
"Due to the fact that attacks on media workers have become more frequent, and the environment in which they work is less and less safe, we are of the opinion that journalists in Montenegro should be granted the status of official persons as soon as possible," the NGO statement "35 mm, signed by Milica Đokđurić, editor of media programs at NGO "35mm".
They added that "the attacks we witnessed in the previous weeks, as well as all the previous ones in which the perpetrators were not discovered, contributed to the fact that journalists cannot do their work freely and professionally".
"Once again, we call on the authorities to show the determination of the institutions so that all the perpetrators of this and previous attacks are held accountable, and we insist that the punishments be toughened for all those who threaten, attack and endanger the lives of journalists, and destroy the media's property," concludes the statement of NGO 35. mm.
