A new delivery of personal protective equipment from the reserves of the rescEU instrument, within the European Union (EU) Civil Protection Mechanism, arrived in Montenegro this week, and a smaller part is expected next, the EU Delegation in Podgorica announced.
It is stated that 300 masks, 228 gloves, 100 safety glasses and shoe covers and other protective equipment each arrived from Romania, Greece, Germany and Belgium.
The EU Delegation noted that the user of all medical equipment is the state pharmacy institution "Montefarm".

The first shipment, which arrived on Wednesday, contained protective equipment from Greece, consisting of 200 vinyl gloves and 100 each of safety glasses and shoe covers.
Greek Ambassador Panagiotis Partsos said that this is the second shipment of the Civil Protection of Greece, after the one from February 11, when 90 thousand FFP2 type masks were delivered directly to the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
"The EU is here, together with its member states, showing its readiness to stand by Montenegro and help it face the pandemic. We can go through this crisis with solidarity," Partsos said.

The EU Delegation stated that the shipment from Romania includes 100 FFP2 and FFP3 masks each, worth 651.380 euros.
Ambassador of Romania Viorel Ardeleanu participated in the event of the donation of medical equipment to "Montefarm".
He emphasized the importance of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in providing support to Montenegro and other countries that seek EU assistance, in the spirit of European solidarity.

This is the third delivery of protective equipment and medical masks that Romania has donated to Montenegro since the beginning of the pandemic, through the European civil protection instrument from the reserves formed within RescEU.
The shipment from Belgium, due to arrive on April 7 and 9, will contain 100 thousand surgical masks, 27,9 thousand pieces of nitrile gloves and ten thousand face shields.
Belgian Ambassador Cohen Adam said that he is very pleased with this donation, which comes at a challenging time for Montenegro.
"The EU is based on solidarity, not only among member states, but also with neighboring countries, and especially with countries that are candidates for membership. Every opportunity to make this solidarity with the Montenegrin people tangible and concrete is excellent," said Adam.
The EU Delegation said that the equipment from Germany is expected tomorrow.
Chargé d'affaires of the EU Delegation in Montenegro, Plamena Halačeva, pointed out that the EU and its member states continue to extend a helping hand and provide support to those who need it most.

"I hope that this equipment will help those who are on the front line of battle, the medical staff, to safely and efficiently perform their crucial work," Halačeva emphasized.
State Secretary Zoran Miljanić pointed out that the donation represents valuable and much-needed assistance to healthcare workers.
"In this way, Europe is sending a message that by taking care of others, it also takes care of itself, and that we all work together to create a unique response that I believe will eventually produce the desired results," said Miljanić.
