Durmitor is Durmitor. One, unique and unrepeatable. A place that God blessed with both his hands, showering it with an abundance of blessings and creating an immense wealth of various indescribable natural beauties", wrote Vlado Vujisić.
His book "DURMITOR National Park" was recently published. The author, who has a master's degree in economic sciences, is a marketing expert and one of the biggest promoters of Durmitor and the mountains of Montenegro, and has been creating the guide for 17 years.
"The hand will reach for this book because it is titled as a guide, but after getting acquainted with it, the reader will find it to be both a guide through Durmitor and a hound to Durmitor. Clear text and good documentary photography will lead him into the magical world of this mountain. The rich mountaineering experience of the author and reliance on the most important sources about this mountain gives the author the right to prepare this valuable monograph about the Durmitor mountain. That is why his descriptions of hiking trails on 40 Durmitor peaks are rich, detailed and above all useful. I am convinced that this monograph on Durmitor will become a mountaineering vademecum, which in translation means - come with me", wrote one of the reviewers, prof. Dr. Saša Popović, member of the Board of Directors of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro (PSCG).
The author also writes in the preface that Durmitor is the mountain that enchanted him the most and filled his heart, even though Vujisić's roots come from Donja Morača, in the vicinity of Kolašin:
"I feel Durmitor with my heart and soul as a living being, as an old, good and inseparable friend to whom I always return with joy and delight and with whom I remain friends until today".
The most comprehensive and so far certainly the most beautiful guide through Durmitor National Park was created after Vujisić spent years getting to know every foot of the mountain, writing and photographing the natural beauty of that national park.
His work is a synthesis of the Durmitor NP guidebook and monograph - described 80 ascents to 40 peaks of Durmitor, i.e. a total of 90 described hiking routes, but also a rich monograph of Durmitor with as many as 400 selected photographs by Vujisić.
The book also contains descriptions of five canyons and three river valleys, 18 lakes, Durmitor valleys, surfaces, passes, the Via Ferrata, the Durmitor ring, the history of mountaineering on Durmitor and more...
The Durmitor National Park, the town of Žabljak, the Durmitor massif were also presented, simply put, the real "Bible" of that mountain is written on 528 pages, with two maps of the mountain.
Describing NP Durmitor, Vujisić wrote that it is certainly the most beautiful national park of Montenegro, the Balkans and beyond, but also that Durmitor has always represented national pride.
In addition to the geographical and statistical data of when it became a National Park, when it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, how much is the area, the territory covered by the municipality, Vujisić emphasizes that - whenever Montenegro is mentioned and its high mountains are mentioned, the first thought is the high Durmitor - all mountains director.
Vujisić also cites data that the Durmitor mountain massif stretches in a northwest-southeast direction and covers an area of about 30 km in length and about 15 km in width, that there are more than 120 peaks above 1.700 meters, and even 50 above 2.000, of which 30 peaks are higher. of 2.200 m, but also that the highest peaks of Durmitor are within 5-6 km of the highest peak of Durmitor, Bobotovo kuk (2.523 m), as well as that it is surrounded by the canyons of Tara, Piva, Sušice, Nevidia and Draga, and the river valleys of Grabovica , Bukovice and Žabljak rivers.
It also says that there are few words that can describe that mountain.
"Every time I see it, I think about which mountain range it looks like, whether it's more the Alps or the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, whose emerald lakes surrounded by dense coniferous forests always remind me beautifully Black Lake. Some landscapes on Durmitor, such as the undulating grassy plateau of Jezerska Poverši and the massif of Šljemen, viewed from across Devil's Lake, remind me of the picturesque mountain panoramas of distant Tibet and Mongolia, while the impressive depth of the grandiose Tara Canyon, viewed from Ćurevac and other canyon viewpoints, always reminds me of the colossal canyon of Colorado. Whenever I enter the heart of Durmitor, its most beautiful and hidden corner, the divine valley of the Škrčki jezera, and when I see the rocks of the impressive Soh, the highest peaks of Durmitor - Bobotov Kuk, Bezimeni Vrh and Đevojka, which are reflected in the beautiful emerald water, from the western shore of the Great Škrčki jezera lakes, I realize that I have not seen such rare beauty even in the Alps"...
At the end of his preface, Vujisić explains that with the book he wants to pay back at least a little to the magnificent Durmitor, who filled his heart and soul with his indescribable heavenly beauty and divine greatness:
"Thereby making my life more beautiful and enriched. Also, I am fulfilled and happy that I will share part of my knowledge and experiences about Durmitor, as well as a large number of my selected photos, with all those who love Durmitor and those who are yet to love it. I hope that this guide through the natural beauty of the Durmitor National Park will be an inspiration and a guide for many hikers and nature lovers as well as scientists and researchers to visit Durmitor, get to know it and love it and discover the priceless treasure of its magnificent beauties"....
He opened wide the doors of the magical kingdom of Durmitor
Prof. Dr. Đorđe Pavlović, one of the reviewers of Vujisić's book, wrote that with this guide, the author opened wide the doors of the magical kingdom of Durmitor to anyone who wants to step into it.
"Durmitor finally got a work worthy of his magnificent beauty. This guide through Durmitor National Park will be the foundation, guide and inspiration for all future works dedicated to Durmitor".
President of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro, prof. Dr. Dragan Bulatović wrote that this is the most comprehensive and certainly the most beautiful hiking guide on Durmitor so far.
"With this impressive work, the author made a huge contribution to mountaineering literature aimed at getting to know the Durmitor mountain, thereby worthy continuing the great life's work of the famous Branislav Cerović, the father of mountaineering on Durmitor. Finally, with his guide 'Durmitor', Vlado Vujisić contributed to the popularization and affirmation of the Durmitor National Park and also of Montenegro as a tourist destination".
