Nikšić: Volunteers cleaned Trebjesa

"We are pleased with the great response from our fellow citizens, non-governmental organizations, and especially the children brought by their parents to show them the importance of the Trebjesa forest park on a practical example, but also what it means to be an environmentally responsible citizen."

NVU "Paths of the Ancestors" from Nikšić, with the support of the local tourist organization, organized a cleaning action in the Trebjesa forest park. According to Ana Petrović Njegoš, the director of "Paths of the Ancestors", the action, the second in a row, was organized as part of the "Let's reforest Trebjesa" project.

"We are pleased with the great response from our fellow citizens, non-governmental organizations, and especially the children brought by their parents to show them the importance of the Trebjesa forest park on a practical example, but also what it means to be an environmentally responsible citizen," said Petrović Njegoš.

As she pointed out, in just half an hour of action, they collected over 300 kilograms of garbage, so you can only imagine how much garbage there is, unfortunately, in Trebjesa.

"In order to clean the lungs of the city or Trebjes, synergy is essential, both of organizations and institutions, and of all individuals. I have to praise the ecopatriotism of three girls who started a wave of this positive eco energy in our city and it is an indicator of how much individuals can work on creating and creating some good awareness among all fellow citizens. We always talk about the tourist potential, about the natural beauty of our city, but we completely neglect the fact that we, as citizens of Nikšić, influence the fact that nature does not look as beautiful as it should look", said the director of TO Nikšić, Boris Muratović.

He pointed out that during this year TO will be the initiator of environmental actions, which are part of their program activities.

As part of the project "Let's reforest Trebjesa", the NGO "Paths of the Ancestors" planted about 4.000 new trees in Trebjesa, and although the project is nearing its end, they intend to continue with activities to revitalize and preserve the site.

"We will start with the campaign 'Plant a tree for a green ecological Nikšić'. The upcoming project will consist of afforestation of Trebjesa in the southern and northern parts where there were fires. We also hope that we will be able to provide a cedar, linden and birch tree for the yards of every elementary school and kindergarten in Nikšić," said Petrović Njegoš.

The action to clean Trebjesa was also organized by the Ecopatriotism movement, which has already successfully implemented several actions, so that these days Trebjesa is "occupied" by volunteers who aim to "breathe" the city's lungs again.
