The University of Montenegro (UCG), with almost half a century of existence, is a leading scientific research, artistic and educational institution that has educated generations and made an immeasurable and indelible contribution to the development of Montenegrin society, said Acting Rector Vladimir Božović.
"The university will continue to fulfill its basic mission dedicatedly and selflessly," said Božović at the ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the establishment of the institution.
He said that society rightly expects the UCG to be more alert, more present, to offer appropriate solutions in order to deal with the major challenges they are facing, today more than ever.
"In order to change the situation around us, we must first face ourselves, correct some mistakes, and restore the good that we neglected. I believe that UCG will be a big construction site in the coming period," said Božović.
As he added, he will make a serious effort to strengthen the scientific and educational base, but also initiate the resolution of major infrastructure problems.
"In this sense, we are counting on the support and help of everyone, especially you, whose success we are highlighting today," Božović said.
He said that UCG especially emphasizes its meritorious academic workers, who have dedicated their working life to the development of the University, and that this year they are awarding the professor emeritus award to Milan Vukčević.
According to Božović, the title of professor emeritus is awarded only to special individuals who have devoted their entire scientific and professional life to the development of their home unit and their university, who have raised the level of science and reputation in the country and abroad with their academic work.
"By awarding this recognition, we also want to inform you that we have expectations for you too - that you continue to share your rich experience with us, your support and your advice are expected and welcome", said Božović.
Vukčević said that the contribution to younger generations was and will be a guiding principle in his academic and life philosophy.
"Of course, this award means to me the formalization of such opportunities. The most intriguing parameter of my professional and personal life is time. I would say in the end that, at this ceremony, the main event is these young and brilliant people," Vukčević pointed out.
At today's ceremony, 30 PhDs were promoted.
The rector promoted Nikola Baša, Petar Božović, Miloš Brajović, Luka Filipović, Jovan Gardašević, Besim Halilaj, Katarina Mirković, Besnik Morina, Ljiljana Pierotić, Samij Sermadžaj, Ivan Vasiljević, Armend Imeri, Željka Beljkaš, Jelisaveta Blagojević, Oliver Blagojević, Stojan Božović.
Vladimir Đurišić, Ena Grbović, Nataša Kopitović Vuković, Biljana Milošević, Ivan Radević, Milena Radonjić, Miloš Rajković, Maja Sekulović, Isidora Stanković, Marina Vukotić, Slavica Tomović, Aladin Crnkić and Milica Jelić also received the title of Doctor of Science.
Božović said that their success is a beacon for those who are coming.
"With our wholehearted help, they will persistently and dedicatedly search for the way to the peaks that you have illuminated for them," emphasized the rector.
At the ceremony, plaques were presented to students who are studying basic studies in the academic year 2020/2021. finished with the best success.
Among the awardees are Bosiljka Bakočević, Boban Banjac, Snežana Kašćelan, Nikola Milić and Andrijana Paljušević.
Bakočević, who received her education at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, said that the award means a lot to her.
"It means to me because it gives me a wind behind me, since I am at the beginning of my creativity. However, I want to point out that the award, in itself, is not a goal, although it flatters our ego when it comes," said Bakočević.
