Dual education will spread to all cities in Montenegro and to all third degree programs, announced the director of the Center for Vocational Education, Duško Rajković, on the occasion of the start of the implementation of the dual system of education in Montenegro.
Rajković, speaking about the benefits of this type of education, which implies parallel learning and working for the employer with compensation, said that after almost a decade "the Government created the conditions for the realization of dual education".
"The time has come to involve employers much more in education and share the responsibility for the quality of professional training. I hope that we will extend this type of education to all schools and all third-level educational programs".
Each student in the dual system receives a monthly allowance and has a mentor at the employer, but his progress is monitored and evaluated by the organizer of practical classes at the school. The advantage is that students who enter this type of education sign an individual contract with the employer for all three years of training, which significantly increases the chances of the student being employed by that employer.
Nebojša Delibašić, a mentor from the Elco team, which is involved in dual education, said that there is a great possibility that students who prove to be good will also get a job:
"We have four students who, in addition to learning at school, have the opportunity to connect it all in practice and are in the mood to accept new knowledge, which will be important for their employment. If they prove to be good, Elco is open and there is a possibility that the best and get a job".
Miodrag Mićović, a professor at the Podgorica electrical engineering school and at the same time the organizer of practical classes, said that a big step forward has been made with dual education, and that for now both students and employers are satisfied. He repeated that students who are in the dual system spend one day with their employer in the first year, two in the second, and three in the third, which creates the conditions for a gradual transition from the school environment to the labor market.
Veselin Pićurić, director of the high school of electrical engineering "Vaso Aligrudić" from Podgorica, said that dual education will undoubtedly ensure that companies and businessmen get quality personnel, and students get a job quickly.
"The children here have already started to acquire skills, and if they prove to be good, I have no doubt that every employer will leave them there. What is particularly important is that it was the dual system that enabled us to enroll students in the electrician program after nine years. Because, it is not uncommon for a student who is in dual education to receive compensation for work with the employer provided by the Ministry, but also a scholarship of 70 euros if he decides on one of the deficient courses in the secondary vocational school. Now out of our 17 electricians, 9 of them go to the employer. And I am sure that we will have even more interested students when they see these children securing a secure future for themselves in the coming years. That is the purpose of everything we do.
"Aware of the fact that there is no quality professional education without practice, we have changed the laws and created all the prerequisites for vocational schools to be not a reserve but the first choice for primary school graduates," said Veljko Tomić, director of the Directorate for Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education.
"264 students in 12 municipalities and 17 schools have signed contracts with employers. And they will be the ones who will develop not only manual skills, but also the ability to adapt to new situations and entrepreneurial competence," Tomić concluded.
