The President of the Assembly, Aleksa Bečić, attended the Easter liturgy at the St. George's Pillars Monastery in Berane, which was served by the Bishop of Buda-Nikšić and the administrator of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of Joanikije.
"We fundamentally need to continue building the meaning of our life and our joy and our community, as well as for the resurrection of Christ and his victory over death to renew our nature, to renew our heart, our thoughts and our community", said Joanikije.
As reported by the Assembly, he expressed special satisfaction due to the fact that the highest representatives of the government were present in Berane today, led by the President of the Assembly, to whom he gave "special recognition and gratitude for having such a large part in the changes to that monstrous law and of everything that was harmful in the Law on Freedom of Religion, which was passed by the previous government".
"The Assembly of Montenegro with all the deputies, headed by Mr. Aleksa Bečić, cleaned it all up and harmonized it with the Constitution of Montenegro and passed a civilized law that establishes equality and freedom of all religions in Montenegro. If they didn't do anything else but that, then that's great. And he will do, God willing, a lot more," said Joanikije.
The parliament adds that the Bishop of Budimlja-Nikšić "congratulated everyone on the holiday, with the wish that they feel this joy in their hearts, that they bring it into their homes, into their families, that we all get strength together to work for good, to spread brotherly love, to build our homeland, to protect our sanctuaries, to respect our roots, to always move forward."
Earlier, as recalled by the Assembly, in his Easter greeting to the clergy, monks, believers, all citizens of the Orthodox faith and to all those who celebrate Easter according to the Julian calendar, Bečić wished them to celebrate Easter in good health, filled with inner peace, accepted prayers and hope for better things. tomorrow for all citizens.
"Distance is one of the words we heard the most during the entire previous year. However, I believe that it is an incentive for each of us to think about the deeper meaning of what is its opposite, which is the need for reciprocity and closeness with people. This holiday would call us to come together and overcome divisions even in regular circumstances, but in this case, it is a call to solidarity, to 'keeping ourselves from others and others from themselves'. In the deep and lasting conviction that the Church will persevere in its mission of affirming biblical messages about love, such as those from the Epistle to the Corinthians about how love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things and never stops, and with the desire that we such love that gives us the strength to endure the current challenges we face, once again, I sincerely wish you a happy Easter. Christ is Risen", reads the congratulatory message of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro.
