Black Lake
Three kilometers southwest of Žabljak, which is connected by an asphalt road, is Crno jezero, the largest and most famous lake in Durmitor and the second largest among the mountain lakes of Montenegro. The Black Lake is the most recognizable element of the entire Žabljak region, and at the same time one of the most famous natural beauties of Montenegro. It is located below Međed, as a guardian and protector, and is covered with dense conifers, which together with Međed are reflected in its blue-green depths.
When the snow begins to melt, the powerful spring of Čelina erupts under it, cascading noisily with white waterfalls into the lake, which is composed of two bodies of water. Small and Great Lakes, which are separated by a narrow area of land, called "struga", make up Black Lake located at an altitude of 1418 meters. The small lake is 49,1 meters deep and 24,5 meters wide. The water temperature in summer exceeds 22 degrees, so during the hot summer months this lake is a real paradise for swimmers.
However, Black Lake is also an excellent choice for May Day holidays, whether you are in a family environment or want to spend pleasant moments with a loved one, so we highly recommend a relaxing walk around the lake.
Everything that could be written about the fairy-tale beauty of the Nevidio canyon is little compared to the experience that it all offers to those who embark on an adventure.
Canyon Nevidio
The most hidden part of Montenegrin beauty is Nevidio canyon or Neviđbog, as the locals call it. He has not seen the Komarnica canyon, which reveals its charms only to those who are ready to spend a few hours in water with a temperature of around seven degrees Celsius, cross slippery stones, jump from rocks several meters high into whirlpools or descend down them with ropes.
Everything that could be written about the fairy-tale beauty of the Nevidio canyon, its secrecy, about the clear Komarnica, its rapids, waterfalls, is little compared to the experience that all this offers to those who embark on an adventure.
Nevidio Canyon is part of Mala Komarnica, which rises at the foot of the southern part of Durmitor, in Dobro dol. Plunging, it passes between Boljske gred 2091 masl and Lojanik 2091 masl to reappear in the tame river valley as a permanent river.
Nevidio canyon begins at the very end of the valley. While making it, Komarnica carved a three and a half kilometer long notch in the rock, which is up to three hundred and fifty meters deep. In some places, the width of the canyon is less than half a meter.
For a long time its inaccessible terrain completely hid it from people and caused attention and curiosity.
Despite the fact that it is the last conquered canyon in Europe, now Nevidio is flocked by the majority of adrenaline adventure seekers, and it is waiting unchanged.
Cold, sunless, overwhelming and dangerous...
It is possible to pass it only in July and August, in the other months it is not recommended even for the most experienced.
In order to experience the unreal beauty of the last conquered canyon in Europe, you must wear canyoning equipment - neoprene socks and a suit reinforced with 4,5 mm suprotex, a helmet, hiking shoes.
In the canyon, you are greeted by a cascade of waterfalls and narrow passages between stone walls.
At the beginning it is about 60 meters deep, at the end it is deeper than 350.
In some places it is only possible to pass under, or even through, rocks. Its beauty is indescribable, and obstacles can be overcome by climbing, swimming, diving, crawling and jumping.
Once you enter the canyon, there is no going back. It can't be done.
Every time the beauty takes your breath away and there is always a new "most beautiful part" of the canyon that you didn't notice before, because you were enchanted by something else and always, when you make the last jump before the exit, you feel sorry that the adventure is coming to an end.
