Can and how much can be built over rubble

The works on the construction of the missing leg of the regional water supply for the municipality of Herceg Novi through the Tivat settlements of Seljanovo and Donja Lastva, which was carried out for months last year by the JP Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast, have left the people of Tivat with an additional new problem - a small landslide in the part of the Seljanovo settlement, on the stretch from the break chamber "Pod Kuk", to Jadranska magistrala near the main entrance to the tourist complex Porto Montenegro.

The builders who worked for the Regional Waterworks cut down all the vegetation that was holding the otherwise unstable mass of earth and stone by its roots, and by laying the pipes and burying them, they created a kind of new shallow stream, over which enormous amounts of earth and mud flow onto the roadway during every heavy rain. .

The Municipality told "Vijesti" that the local Directorate for Investments of the Municipality sent a letter to the Regional Waterworks in connection with that problem.

"According to the information available to the Municipality, the workers of this company have removed mud and soil from the road several times so far. Also, the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Tivat went to the field", they said from the local self-government, but so far these activities have not produced a final and high-quality solution to this problem.

The Municipality of Tivat reminded that the specific location was also the subject of discussions between the President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović and the Minister of Internal Affairs Sergej Sekulović during his recent visit to Tivat.

Near the location where the Regional Waterworks created a new small landslide, namely, there is a dilapidated building - a prefab barrack that has been the headquarters of the Tivat police for forty years. That shack is completely unnecessary for the needs of the Tivat police, but it is also a kind of mockery for the city that aspires to be a prestigious tourist destination, given that the police shack is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the Porto Montenegro complex, i.e. opposite the "Knightsbridge" international school International Montenegro".

"Mayor Komnenović and Minister Sekulović discussed the construction of a new, large facility that, in addition to other facilities, would also be used by members of the MUP. In this way, the problem of premises for the police station in Tivat would be solved. Through this project, based on the model of private-public partnership, this location of a total of 30.000 square meters from Novosadska street east towards the city center, would be valorized, in such a way that numerous missing facilities in Tivat would be developed on it", stated the local administration.

In the preparation of such a possible private-public partnership for the valorization of this now largely undeveloped location, as they explained, all existing documentation will be reviewed, "keeping in mind that based on the existing study, the terrain is not the most favorable for construction and applicable solutions will be considered."
