Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović, a pulmonologist, said and warned that in previous years, people who were not previously vaccinated died from the flu virus.
"Usually, none of the most seriously ill patients were vaccinated. That speaks volumes about how important it is to get vaccinated, especially now that we have that opportunity," she said in the Assembly during the debate on the amendments to the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases.
Amendments to the regulations defined the obligation to wear a protective mask indoors and outdoors, with mandatory physical distance in accordance with the epidemiological situation.
For not wearing a mask, a fine of 30 euros is provided for individuals, and up to 30.000 euros for legal entities.
Borovinić Bojović explained that the amendments to the law more comprehensively determined the competence of the inspections and the communal police, the aim of which is to further strengthen the control and punishment function.
She said that the proposed changes define quarantine more closely, as well as define self-isolation at home for people who have mild symptoms of an infectious disease, as one of the protection measures.
MP Boris Mugoša of the Social Democrats (SD) said that, when the percentage of revaccinated people exceeds 30 percent, it should be prescribed that it is possible to move in small groups outdoors without a mask.
He praised the organization of mass vaccination, but also said that he was concerned that only 1.500 people were vaccinated with the first dose yesterday. He explained that in the next month, if we want to reach 30 percent of the immunized, we should vaccinate 2.700 people a day.
Closing the premises for three days in case of violation of the measures
Restaurateurs who do not comply with the measures will be threatened with the closure of the premises, because the previous activities, administrative measures and actions undertaken by inspectors and prescribed fines did not produce the expected results, the minister said.
"So it was expected to prescribe the obligation of the competent inspector to, in addition to a fine, in the case of established irregularities, prohibit the publication of the activity of the subject for a period of three days, and in the case of repeated violations, a ban of 15 to 30 days," explained Borovinić Bojović.
