The Montenegrin community in Kosovo should soon become a constitutional category of the Republic of Kosovo like Serbs and Bosniaks, according to the proposal of the Acting Director of the Administration for Cooperation with Diaspora - Expatriates, Seid Hadžić, the Administration announced.
Hadžić attended the reception on the occasion of the Day of Montenegrins of Kosovo, which was organized by the Prime Minister of the Government of Kosovo, Aljbin Kurti. The reception was attended by the Vice President of the Kosovo Government, Emilija Redžepi, and the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Communities, Erzen Vranići.
As announced by the Administration, in the conversation with Kurti, friendly relations between Montenegro and Kosovo were emphasized, as well as the need to improve all forms of cooperation between the two countries, especially improving the status of the Montenegrin community in Kosovo.
Hadžić: By defining Montenegrins as a constitutional category until the improvement of their rights
Hadžić stressed the need to treat Montenegrins like Serbs and Bosniaks under the constitutional category of the Republic of Kosovo, which, according to the administration, was approved by Prime Minister Kurti.

"The diaspora of ethnic Montenegrins, Bosniaks and Serbs, as well as other citizens originating from Montenegro, are the focus of our interest as the Directorate for cooperation with the diaspora - expatriates. It is known that the Bosniak and Serb communities have minority status in the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, while the Montenegrin community does not have that status for now. I believe that it is in the interest of both Montenegro and Kosovo that the community of ethnic Montenegrins in Kosovo becomes a constitutional category and that, on that basis, it derives all the rights it belongs to, like other communities, regardless of the fact that it is a small community. Citizens of Kosovo of Montenegrin origin should know that this Government will count on them as one of its own, and count on them as ambassadors of friendship between Montenegro and the Republic of Kosovo. We are particularly interested in establishing better cross-border cooperation on joint projects through citizens of Montenegrin origin."
Kurti: We want Albanians in Montenegro and Montenegrins in Kosovo to enjoy all their rights
With a congratulatory message on the occasion of May 21, the Independence Day of Montenegro and the Day of Montenegrins of Kosovo, Kurti stated that Kosovo wants Albanians in Montenegro and Montenegrins in Kosovo to enjoy all their collective cultural and political rights, "as a healthy basis for good relations between the two neighboring state, for a better future and the good of both peoples."
The Vice President of the Government of Kosovo, Emilija Redžepi, along with congratulations on the 15th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Montenegro and gratitude to the delegation for the visit, emphasized the need for improving cooperation in all fields.

At the reception on the occasion of the Day of Montenegrins of Kosovo, in addition to Hadžić and his associate Alen Mujević, there were also the president of the Montenegrin association "Lovćen" in Kosovo Lazar Radulović, the acting ambassador of Montenegro in Kosovo Nikol Ljuljđuraj and the representative of the Association of Montenegrins in Podgorica Biserka Đurđević.
