The Minister of Internal Affairs, Sergej Sekulović, today supported the initiative to start preparations for the establishment of a public health crisis and operational center in Montenegro, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced.
The announcement adds that at the meeting held on the occasion of the stay of representatives of the World Health Organization, the Ministry of the Interior of Romania (Department for Emergency Situations) and the "Robert Koch" Institute from Berlin, the Montenegrin response to the pandemic and the need for further strengthening of multisectoral cooperation were discussed, as well as experiences of partners from Germany and Romania.
"The meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is part of the process of periodic review of the national response to Covid 19 in Montenegro, during which experiences will be reviewed and measures will be recommended to strengthen capacities for prevention, preparedness and response to crisis situations," the MUP press release points out.
It is also stated that at the meeting the representatives of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue presented a strategic, regular and institutional framework for managing crisis situations in Montenegro, regardless of the type and type of hazard.
"Participants agree that it is necessary to continuously strengthen multisectoral cooperation in crisis management, especially when it comes to biological hazards. The crisis operation center in public health is an important assumption arising from the International Health Agreement (International Health Regulations) and an important component of crisis management It is a project that would combine traditional public health services and other functions, with the aim of improving the capacity for response and management of crisis situations. The establishment of this center will be financially supported by the European Union, and expert support will be provided by the World Health Organization in partnership with Germany. and Romania," said the MUP.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health.
