The ninth-grade students of Oktoih Elementary School in Podgorica want an excursion and a prom night, said the director of that institution, Mirjana Radulović, stating that they have not received answers from the relevant ministry and the Institute for Public Health (IJZ), where they sent an email for help.
She stated that the elementary school "Oktoih" expands its capacity to accept new students year after year, and the interest in enrolling in the first grade this year has exceeded all expectations.
"The interest is better and greater than in previous years, we will be forced to enter ten classes of champions, which has never been the case before. "Nine classes will be enrolled in the home school and the tenth in the district unit in Dajbabe," Radulović told the Mediabiro agency.
Commenting on the uncertainty regarding the organization of the prom night due to the situation with the coronavirus, she said that students, representatives of the student parliament, with whom they have excellent cooperation, come to the school administration with questions to which they could not give promising answers.
"Questions and requests are related to the organization of the prom night, for which we still do not know what will happen. They leave here, finish eight years of schooling, and we have no information about what will happen to their semi-matriculation," said Radulović.
She said that the students asked to gather in the school yard.
"It didn't even come to that, although the students here in Zabjelo have a tradition of getting together and celebrating leaving school," said Radulović.
It is stated that, due to the overall situation, the holding of the midterms is still questionable, and the students asked the school administration to organize an excursion.
"Students asked if we would be able to organize a one-day or one-night excursion for them," said Radulović.
However, as she said, all that was left somewhere on the side in a bag.
"We have no answers from the relevant ministry and the Institute of Public Health, where we sent an email asking them to help us and see what we can do to give these children some color in their school world. For now, we are still waiting, so we will see what will happen until the end," said Radulović.
She said that the achievements of the students of that school, despite the coronavirus pandemic, are great.
"We at the school are satisfied with everything we have done and everything our students have achieved, namely six awards at the national competition, two in English, two in mathematics, one in German and one in French," said Radulović.
She added that they won the first prize at the competition "Under an old olive tree" in Bar.
She also announced that she will soon organize the Day of the Best event at the school, and that they have already prepared how to celebrate it.
When it comes to the organization of the external graduation that was held in April, Radulović believes that they did everything that was expected of them.
"We had rules according to which, as usual, we tested the children. Montenegrin language, mathematics and an optional subject were taken, and in 90 percent of cases it was English," said Radulović.
She said that the results were good, "the children eventually met because the situation was as it is."
"We had to see through their fingers a little, so I think they are satisfied, as well as the teachers. I hope that everything will work out and that next year we will be able to make up for possible omissions and gaps in their ignorance," said Radulović.
She added that the children will be able to make up for everything they have not learned in further education.
