Đukić: The historic success of the karate national team

The President of the Municipal Assembly (SO) of Kolašin, Milan Đukić, organized a reception for Slobodan Vlahović, the selector of the Montenegrin karate team. Đukić said that the karate national team achieved a historic success and reminded that it ended its performance at the 56th European Senior Championship in Poreč with a silver medal.

"The team led by coach Vlahović was defeated in the final match by the host Croatia. Montenegrin karate players reached the finals and the first team medal by winning against some of the best teams in the world from Belgium, Spain, Russia and Azerbaijan in the semi-finals. This was an opportunity to officially congratulate Slobodan Vlahović on behalf of SO Kolašin, the citizens of Kolašin and in my own name on the historic success that the national team achieved in Poreč. We in Kolašin are proud of the success of the Montenegrin karate team, and especially of the fact that our Slobodan Vlahović is part of that great success. This is one in a series of confirmations of the great effort and quality work we have in the karate club "Gorštak" from Kolašin, in which Vlahović is a coach together with Željko and Radoslav Vukićević. After numerous successes with the Karate Club "Gorštak" from Kolašin, this year also saw a historic medal with the Montenegrin national team, which surely represents the crowning glory of any coaching career. However, knowing the energy of coach Vlahović, I know that he will continue his quality work with the same intensity both in the club and in the national team, as well as his successes in major international competitions," said Đukić.

The president of the SO claims that "the local administration in Kolašin dedicatedly supports and co-finances sports, sports clubs and events organized by them". He reminds that, before the corona virus, the Municipality was a sponsor of the traditional international karate tournament "Kolašin Pobjebnik".

"Kolašin is a city of sports and a city of tourism, that's why I use the opportunity to invite the Karate Association of Montenegro and the Administration for Sports, that if Montenegro hosts an international karate competition, we will organize it together in Kolašin." "Our city has all the prerequisites for an international karate competition: two sports halls, high-quality accommodation and most importantly - an interested audience for all sports events," said Đukić.

Vlahović reminded that Karate club "Gorštak" "had two European champions in younger categories and successful competitors in the Balkan championships". He says that Kolasin karate does not have to worry about the future, "because a good generation of young karate players is coming and will continue the continuity of the success of the karate club "Gorštak" and the national team of Montenegro".

"It is an honor and a pleasure for me that, as a coach from Kolašin, I led the Montenegrin karate team, which achieved a historic result for Montenegrin karate and Montenegrin sports in general. I thank the president of the SO Đukić, who recognizes the importance of the sports result that we achieved as a national team at the European Championship in Poreč. I am also glad that he recognized and emphasized our coaching work in the karate club "Gorštak", which has continuously achieved remarkable results in the last 15 years", said Vlahović after the reception.
