It will block the road if it is not aligned

Citizens of the local community of Crljenica will block the Pljevlja-Prijepolje road if the company that is reconstructing the road to the border with Serbia does not allow normal traffic on that section of the road.

The President of the Council of the Local Community, Darko Gačević, through which the road to the Ranche border crossing mostly passes, says that the traffic is difficult because the asphalt has been removed from a large part of the 13-kilometer road.

"Due to the removed layer of asphalt, on almost the entire section of the road, traffic lights and other delays, the local population suffers greatly from the consequences. The buffer under the removed asphalt curtain is not aligned, but "waves" have been made, the maximum speed at which it can be driven is 20 kilometers per hour, which is why many motor vehicles are damaged. Also, the dust that is created greatly complicates normal traffic conditions, Gačević said.

Locals demand that the buffers under the removed asphalt curtain be leveled as soon as possible and allow normal traffic conditions.

If this does not happen, Gačević points out, the locals will block the works until their demands are met.

The President of the Council of the Local Community of Crljenica says that he received assurances from the Traffic Administration that they will soon level the part of the road from which the asphalt has been removed.

"During the conversation with them, I was informed that the road will be completely completed by the end of the year, although that work was supposed to be completed by August 18," Gačević said.

In recent years, the Pljevlja-Prijepolje road has been increasingly used by a large number of tourists who go on vacation to Žabljak and the Montenegrin coast.

Currently, the traffic is carried out on a gravel road that is not leveled, and in some places, the traffic is carried out in one lane with alternating passing of vehicles.

"Instead of starting a complete reconstruction, that is, work on the entire length of the road could be done part by part on shorter sections of several kilometers each, which would facilitate traffic," said Gačević.

The reconstruction of the thirteen kilometer Pljevlja-Mihajlovica road to the border with Serbia began on August 18 last year.

The value of the works is 8,2 million euros, and the entire work is financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank.

The works include, among other things, the construction of a third lane on certain sections, corrections of the route and profile to improve speed, turning radius, stopping and visibility distance of connections, rehabilitation or reconstruction of the bridge, construction of new and reconstruction of damaged culverts, as well as supporting and lining walls, new drainage and outlets, slope rehabilitation, replacement of damaged asphalt layers, installation or renewal of traffic signals and equipment.
