Nikšić's Mirko Ilić, who urinated on the monument to the national hero Čedomir Ljub Čupić and who was ordered not to leave his place of residence due to a lawyer's strike, sent a letter in which he apologizes to the Čupić family, the citizens of Nikšić and Montenegro, for his inaction.
"I have never in my life desecrated anyone's memorial, monument or grave, which are sacred to me. Unfortunately, alcohol did its work, for which I am ashamed and regretful today. God is my witness that I passed by the monument of Ljub Čupić several times and I never it didn't occur to me to do something inhuman," he wrote in Ilić's letter delivered to the media.
As he wrote, he understands the reaction and judgment of the Čupić family and the public, and he is here to bear all the consequences for the inaction he committed.
"This is a disaster for me and any verdict will be less than the shame and shame I am experiencing," Ilić said.
