The children who completed the first grade of the "Vasa Pavić" Music School were not allowed to learn any of the three instruments that they listed in the application, but were offered completely different ones, their parents announced.
In a letter to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, a group of parents stated that they are dissatisfied and disappointed with the attitude towards their children and the way in which the choice of instrument was made for the children who completed the first grade of the "Vasa Pavić" Music School.
They said that in the middle of May, they received a document in which they had to fill in (report) the data for the three desired instruments, ordered by priority.
The letter states that the list contained instruments that may be considered during the election.
The parents pointed out that the guitar was listed as one of the instruments, and that for this reason alone, a number of students put the guitar as their first choice, in addition to which they chose two other desired instruments.
They stated that they only received information this week that the guitar is not planned for this year, but also that they cannot get any of the remaining instruments that they listed in the application.
It is stated that the number of rejected children is equal to one formed class.
The parents told the Ministry that they perceive it as discrimination, because all the other children got the first of the desired instruments.
"On Thursday, June 17, we received information that we can choose only one of the four instruments that are now offered to us (horn, harp, flute and accordion) and that we must complete the application today, because otherwise the children will not be able to continue their education," he says. in the letter.
It is stated that the representatives of the parents visited the school on Friday, June 18, looking for a solution in the form of choosing a guitar or some other instrument that they mentioned in the application, which the school did not hear about.
The parents claim that they were told that if they did not choose what was imposed on them, we would be to blame for the withdrawal of the children from the music school, which was neither their goal nor their intention.
"From a respectable school, which should nurture the talent of our children, make them better and more cultured people, maybe even excellent artists, we are confused by this act, because we want our children to continue their education in this institution," said the Parents.
They asked if the Music School was really like that, considering that they were reduced to this type of communication, which is unacceptable.
"Since we were unable to reach a constructive agreement with the school, please help us and, in agreement with the school, make it possible for our children, like all others, to learn the guitar or at least one of the other two instruments they registered," the parents requested. from the Ministry.
They also submitted a letter to the Ministry, which they sent to the Music School, noting that they later received the support of an even larger number of parents who found themselves in the same situation.
