Although for now it is only "on paper", the Kolašin local administration claims that they are starting to solve the enormous problems with the sewage network for municipal water.
Proposals for two decisions have been determined - on determining the location for the construction of the sewage network, as well as the connecting infrastructure for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP).
The local administration assesses that the existing state of collection, disposal and treatment of waste water is unsatisfactory.
"Only a small part of Kolašin is connected to the sewage system. The rural part and three quarters of the city still use septic tanks with permeable bottoms or walls. The sewage system was built, mostly, in the vicinity of the central town square. The estimated number of inhabitants with connections to the sewage network is 850, which is about 8,5 percent. That's only 275 sewage connections", say the Municipality.
According to the assessment of the local administration, there are about 1.300 septic tanks in the area of the Kolasin Municipality, of which 95 percent are permeable.
For decades, waste water from the sewage system in Kolašin has been discharged directly into two "lagoons", which are only 25 meters away from the Tara River.
The expansion of the Kolašina sewerage network should begin with the connection of basic city institutions to the sewerage system.
Among them are the Health Center, the Culture Center, the Post Office, the market... Several collectors should be built in the streets of Dunja Đokić, Boško Rašović, Mirko Vešović, Breza...
Construction of WWTP is planned in Bakovići.
That plant has been in the municipal strategic plans for more than a decade.
