An unknown substance that spread an unbearable stench was released into the Lim River the night before last in Muha Dizdarevica Street, under the "Bistrica" ​​Waterworks facility itself, which is why the water inspector was notified and a report was filed against the Bjelopolje municipal company.

That is why the NGO "Euromost" filed a complaint against the Waterworks for endangering the health of citizens and the river.

"It seems that they are not aware that it is summer and that children are swimming in Lima. We expect the water inspector to immediately file a criminal complaint against the responsible persons", announced from "Euromost".

They also state that "the Deputy President of the Municipality, Nermin Bećirović, was on the spot, who was astonished by the sight, because he had never encountered such a stench before, and that he will inform the President of the Municipality, Petar Smolović, about everything".

The technical director of Vodovod, Marko Bulatović, said that it is true that on June 6, the unclogging of the city's sewage system, which passes through the cadastral plot of Vodovod, and which flows into Rista Ratkovića Street, whose network dates back to 1962, was carried out.

He explained that the teams working on de-suffocating and rehabilitating the sewage network, as well as pumping out septic tanks and bioseparators, work day and night in order to react in a timely manner and prevent the spillage of feces on public or private surfaces.

"Wastewater - faeces are drained through city sewerage pipelines into the recipient - the river Lim, because Bijelo Polje does not have a completed city collector and wastewater treatment plant in order for water from households and industry to be purified and discharged into the recipient," said Bulatović.

He stated that when the sewage system is blocked, there is the spread of unpleasant odors and the immediate spilling of a large amount of feces into the river, which Vodovod cannot influence and takes no action, because such is the waste water drainage system from the city area, which will be solved by completion and release to the work of the city collector.

"As Vodovod "Bistrica" ​​Bijelo Polje is also in charge of pumping septic tanks and bioseparators, they are drained into the recipient by the city sewage system and there is no other option. Often there is also the washing of a special vehicle for fecal sewage degassing, which is a mandatory procedure after the degassing work is completed in order to preserve the vehicle, which is over 35 years old, and so that it can be functional for the next intervention. The spread of unpleasant odors is instantaneous and does not endanger the health of citizens," said Bulatović.
