The memorial complex on Breza, where hundreds of partisans and patriots were shot, is the place where the Day of the Uprising and the Day of Statehood were celebrated in Kolašin again this year.
Wreaths were placed on the monument by delegations of UBNOR and anti-fascists, a delegation of the Municipality, led by President Milosav Bulatović, and a delegation of the Army of Montenegro.
"Every word spoken on Breza is an oath. Every name and surname on this white stone is sacred. Every look we look at them is a pledge that their sacrifice was not in vain and that their youth and the ideals of anti-fascism will forever be the name of European and democratic Montenegro. And today, to all those who are unclear, we want to convey this from Breza," said Gojko Vlahović, honorary president of UBNOR and anti-fascist Kolašin.
In the words of Darko Bulatović, president of UBNOR and anti-fascist Kolašin, "silence on Breza is an expression of piety, an expression of respect of descendants for their ancestors, a historical reading that tells us - it did not happen again".
"But let the lofty ideals of all patriots and insurgents on July 13 be repeated and renewed, respected and continued. Let the ideals of freedom, rights, honor, opportunities for young generations to create, acquire knowledge and contribute to the prosperity of a civilized, democratic and European Montenegro last." he said.
Bulatović says that "it is the anti-fascism of the banner of light and progress that is still developed today from Kolašin, the wartime capital of Montenegro".
According to him, July 13 is "the date of plural Montenegrin history".
"Today, we are sending a message from here to Cetinje, Podgorica, Boka, Primorje, towns in the hills, that Kolašin wants to become the peacetime mountain capital of our Montenegro, where good and hardworking mountain people live and work, descendants of men and heroes," said the president of UBNOR- and the anti-fascist Kolašin.
In the cultural program, the actor Nikola Šćepanović read the words of Veljko Vlahović about Montenegro, as well as the insurgent messages of Milovan Đilas from July 1941.
The singing group "Đude" and the vocal soloist Tijana Rakočević performed traditional songs, including the song of emigrants from Kruščić "in which Montenegro is endlessly loved".
The delegations of UBNOR and the municipalities of Kolašina and Mojkovac, early this morning, laid wreaths on the memorial plaque in Vrlostup in the village of Sjerogošte.
At that place, under the leadership of Aleksa Đilas-Beć, at dawn, on July 14, 1941, the first rifles in the Kolašin district fired against the occupiers.
