The Agency for the Protection of Personal Data and Free Access to Information (AZLP) was targeted by hackers three times in the last few months, as a result of which its website could not be accessed for days.
"Due to the new, most serious attack so far, the site was unavailable for more than ten days," AZLP told "Vijesta" about the latest case.
Their website is available again since yesterday.
"It is an attack on the server, first by inserting malicious files, then by changing the security settings, and finally by taking full control over the application server. The attacker uses the server for phishing," AZLP's response states.
The previous two attacks took place in March and June.
AZLP said that they reported both attacks to the National Team for Protection from Computer and Security Incidents on the Internet (CIRT), but emphasized that they did not receive any answers.
CIRT, in cooperation with key institutions in Montenegro, deals with the detection, monitoring and suppression of cyber attacks at the state level.
In the latest available report on the establishment of teams for the management of incident situations on the Internet, it is stated that Montenegro, as a responsible subject of international relations, must establish the basic prerequisites for the development of a safe cyber space of national interest, which, it is emphasized, will make an undoubted contribution to the further strengthening of the national and global security.
For example, at the end of April, the CIRT announced that the Unified Information System of State Authorities was a frequent target of hacker activities that were directed against the online visa application site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
