Member of the Democratic Front (DF) Dragan Bojović he said yesterday that he and his wife are the Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović, the target of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. However, the Agency insists that this is not the case and that they are just doing their job.
At yesterday's session of the Parliamentary Anti-corruption Committee, he said that this institution has been dealing with his family in detail "since I started criticizing the Agency and questioning the work of the director", and he used the case of his wife as an example.
"Some irregularities were found. We duly paid the sanction and entered all the irregularities pointed out by the Agency into the report. However, the Agency is now again dealing with me and my wife for the same reporting period and again finds some marginalia, technicalities and so on in order to sanction us", he said at the session.
Bojović added that director Jelena Perović questioned the minister about certain appointments in the health system, citing as an example the director of the Institute for Public Health (IJZ), claiming that this is not within the competence of the Agency itself.
In April, the agency found a threat to the public interest, which points to the existence of corruption in the appointment process Igor Galić for the director of IJZ. He was appointed at the proposal of the minister.
Perović replied that the Agency has the authority to interfere and that it will intervene at any time when it assesses that the regulations have not been respected and "which can lead to unequal competition for all candidates applying for any position".
"Our duty is to point out irregularities, not so that someone would be called out, not so that anyone would be sanctioned, but so that certain things would not be repeated in the future", she said at the Board session, adding that whistleblowers most often report precisely the problems that are about employment.
President of the Council Momcilo Radulović he said that it is the Agency's duty to punish a public official who breaks the law every time. "There are at least three people in this room who have been prosecuted and punished by the Agency," he pointed out.
Member of Parliament of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Vesna Pavićević she said that "for the sake of Bojović, I am extremely pleased that you called me to point out the mistake I had in the report". "I was delighted with how precisely and professionally you do it," she said at the Board session.
