Shinawatra would like to legalize illegal construction

Podgorica company "Global TS Montenegro" Taksin Shinawatra, a naturalized Montenegrin and former Prime Minister of Thailand, requested the Municipality of Budva to legalize wildly constructed single-story buildings on the island of Sveti Nikola, opposite Budva.

The request, which "Vijesti" had access to, submitted to the municipal Secretariat for Urban Planning and Sustainable Development, requests the legalization of business premises with a total gross area of ​​about 350 square meters, or 300 square meters net.

As stated, the buildings were "black" built in 2007, they were moved in and real estate tax is paid for them.

Subsequently, as stated in the request from Šinavatra's company, they will submit a certified geodetic report and accompanying documentation.

This is one of almost 5.000 requests for legalization that were submitted to the Municipality of Budva in the past three years.

The company of the richest Montenegrin, whose wealth according to Forbes is estimated at more than one billion, in April 2017 concluded a sales contract with the Podgorica company "San investments", which is behind the controversial Serbian businessman. Stanko Subotic Cane, which made her the owner of 37.000 square meters of land on the island of Sveti Nikola. Stone one-story buildings had already been built on the land without a permit.

Šinavatra paid 24 million euros for an attractive piece of land on the largest Montenegrin island.

The wild buildings on the island were built by the previous owner, a Belgrade businessman and former JUL politician Nenad Djordjevic, who sold part of the island to Subotic in 2007. He stated that he did so due to the obstruction of state authorities, which did not allow him to realize his allegedly ambitious plans.

Đorđević, who was the owner of three attractive properties in Budva - the Hotel "Admiral", the old building of the "Yugoslav River Shipping" near the Old Town and the south-eastern part of the island, started construction without permission on the popular Hawaii - Školja, as the locals call it.

This was thwarted by the state, and in the summer of 2002, the inspection, accompanied by the police, demolished part of the building with dynamite. This revolted Đorđević, who had already wildly built a large beach, connected Školj with Školjić, a small island, thereby cutting off the waterway and sea currents, built a large pier, and several single-story stone houses. He populated the island with deer and other game, trying to turn it into a nature reserve and luxury tourist resort.

The state services managed by DPS did not like that, so Đorđević sold the island to Subotic's company for 2007 million euros in 20. Subotic took a loan from Prva banka, a businessman, for the purchase Aca Đukanović, the brother of the current president of DPS and the state Milo Đukanović. At the time, the media speculated that the sale was also mediated Miloš Marović, the son of a high-ranking DPS official at the time Svetozar Marović.

Đorđević also sold the "Yugoslav River Shipping" building to a businessman Duško Knežević for three million euros, and the "Admiral" hotel to Russian investors.

After taking over the island, Subotić allegedly intended to build an unusual footbridge from the Old Town to the island, on which there would be hotel facilities and villas, and two marinas - on the island and next to the Old Town ramparts.

Due to the unreturned loan, Prva banka tried to sell that part of the island on two occasions, but gave up after the Podgorica company returned part of its obligations.

After a full decade, Subotic's company also decides to sell its assets to Šinavatra's company. Shortly after the purchase, Đukanović's bank "takes off" the mortgage from the island.

In 2009, Šinavatra was granted a Montenegrin passport by summary procedure, although at that moment he was being prosecuted in his native country for corruption. He was a regular guest at Sveti Stefan for years.

After being ousted as prime minister in 2006, Shinawatra fled Thailand to avoid prison for corruption and has lived abroad ever since. His arrival in Montenegro was linked by the media to his close ties with Milo Đukanović.

Shinawatra's company has never publicly spoken about plans for the island. A year after he became the owner, the Montenegrin Assembly adopted the Special Purpose Spatial Plan, which provided for the urbanization of the island of Sveti Nikola - the construction of hotel facilities with a total of 500 beds and a marina with 50 berths, precisely on the part owned by Šinavatra's company.

It operates with a loss, the loss exceeded 822 thousand euros

Šinavatra's company has not been able to boast of good business for years, because it has been posting negative business results.

So last year, as written in the financial statement, it ended with a loss of 76.096 euros.

Thus, the company continued to operate at a loss since it traded part of the island four years ago. The company Šinavatre, from its establishment in 2015 until the end of last year, accumulated a loss of 822.187 euros. The assets of Šinavatra's company remained unchanged and are estimated at 24,7 million euros.

Last year, the company had no income, and operating expenses amounted to 66.241 euros.
