Montenegro received over 100.000 PCR tests through donations in the previous period, and another 80.000 have been purchased from its own funds.

This is written in the response of the Ministries of Health and Economic Development to "Vijesta".

They reminded that so far about 8.100 PCR analyzes have been performed on foreign citizens and that they cannot talk about the exclusive costs in the budget for testing tourists because they used donations for that purpose...

"Montenegro is by far the country that conducts the most tests in the region, all with the aim of rapid detection and prevention of the spread of the coronavirus. From July 29 to August 5, 4.700 tests per day per million inhabitants were performed in our country. So, from May to August this year, five times more tests were performed than in the same period last year. We remind you that the option of free PCR testing and treatment for tourists has caused positive reactions from the entire tourism industry and tourists from the very beginning," the two government departments wrote in the reply.

They said that, according to the cross-section from August 6, about 192 thousand tourists stayed in Montenegro, which is 96 percent of the achieved tourist traffic from the record year 2019, and 11 times more than in the same period last year. They pointed out that the occupancy of hotel capacities in some municipalities is at the level of 150 percent compared to 2019.

7,93

percent is the share of positives among those tested for the new coronavirus, the IJZ announced yesterday.

"According to the data of the Central Bank, during the last year, 144 million euros were generated from tourism, which is 13 percent of tourism revenues compared to 2019, when 1,1 billion euros were generated.

Only in the first six months of this year, as much revenue was generated as for the whole of last year, and we are waiting for the data from July and August, when over 60 percent of the total tourist revenue for the whole year is generated," the answer reads.

One person died from the coronavirus infection, and another 210 positive cases were registered, of which 49 were tourists.

The Institute for Public Health (IJZ) said that there were 52 newly infected from Podgorica, 43 from Budva, 23 from Ulcinj, 22 from Bara, 18 from Herceg Novi, ten from Nikšić, eight from Cetinje, and six from Beran.

Five new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Bijelo Polje, four each in Tivat and Danilovgrad, three each in Kotor and Rozaje, two each in Pljevlja, Andrijevica and Petnjica, and one each in Mojkovac, Tuzi and Plužine.

"During Sunday, IJZ was notified of one death due to a COVID-19 infection, in a 64-year-old person from Bar," the statement says.

About twenty restaurateurs protested yesterday in Podgorica due to the Government's measures against the coronavirus, claiming that they were discriminated against.

"The latest measures stipulate that only employees in the catering sector must be vaccinated and that only vaccinated persons can enter the premises of the catering establishment. This does not apply to any other closed facility," said the president of the Association of Restaurateurs of Montenegro, Nikola Buzdovan.

According to the current measures, catering employees must be vaccinated with at least one dose, have a negative PCR or rapid antigen test or proof that they have had the coronavirus.

Buzdovan announced that the restaurateurs initiated the importance of vaccination from the first day and conducted two campaigns, and that from the first day they appealed that the measures must be respected.

The Ministry of Economic Development invited interested citizens who have acquired the right to use a tourist voucher to register at the free phone number 1717.

The Ministry reminded that all citizens over the age of 50, vaccinated in July with the first dose of the vaccine, have the right to use a tourist voucher in the amount of 50 euros.

"The application number will be open until August 15, and citizens can call on weekdays from 20 a.m. to 15 p.m. and on Saturdays from XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX p.m.," it was announced.

Accommodation in the hotel will be available only to citizens who have acquired the right in this way, and it cannot be transferred to other persons.
