In the first eight months of this year, especially in the period of relaxation of the epidemiological measures introduced due to the covid-19 virus, an increased presence of migrants and refugees was registered in the territory of the Municipality of Pljevlja, who are traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the European Union.

This was stated at the meeting of the Working Team for Monitoring the Migrant Crisis in an expanded composition. In addition to members of the working team consisting of representatives of all relevant institutions in the municipality of Pljevlja, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Miroslav Zeković - Acting Director General of the Directorate for Administrative Affairs, Citizenship and Foreigners with associates, Dušica Živković - IOM representative for Montenegro as well as UNHCR representative for Montenegro Saša Čađenović.

According to the data of the representative of the Security Center, from January to September 2021, not a single criminal offense was registered, which was committed by a migrant, and for which prosecution is undertaken ex officio. There was no registered violation of the Law on Public Order.

"The common position from the meeting is that without the help of state institutions, as well as international organizations that deal with the issue of migration and that have a mission in Montenegro, the Municipality of Pljevlja cannot solve the problems brought by migrant movements with its capacities. It is necessary, as concluded, to connect all interested parties who could offer solutions to the problems of migrants. In the plans at the state and local level, it is necessary to express the needs of the Municipality of Pljevlja, especially in cases of a mass influx of migrants", announced the Cabinet of the President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Igor Golubović.

The working team for monitoring the migrant crisis is in charge of coordinated activities based on a partnership relationship in order to reduce and stop the illegal passage of migrants along borders, prevent human smuggling and strengthen the security of all citizens, through the exchange of information and constant monitoring of the situation in the areas of social and health care, as well as security situations.
