Caught poachers in the Ulcinj Salt Lake Nature Park: They had two hunting rifles and rifles with hunting ammunition

Security workers in the Ulcinjska Solana Nature Park engaged by the JPNPCG prevented poaching and caught two poachers during a regular control of the area on September 26 in the early morning hours, according to the announcement.

They add that on this occasion the caught persons had two hunting rifles that were loaded as well as magazines with hunting ammunition.

"The poachers were detained and processed in the premises of the Police Department of the Security Department in Ulcinj, and a criminal charge was filed against one who fired a hunting rifle," said the National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG).

The NPCG pointed out that the security guards of the Ulcinj Saltworks emphasize that any person who commits illegal actions that threaten the biodiversity of the area will be immediately prosecuted.

"At the same time, they appeal to the awareness of citizens to refrain from committing illegal acts in order to preserve the diverse and rich bird life of this unique area," they added.

They reminded that the Ulcinj Salt Flat is the most important habitat for birds on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, both for nesting and wintering, and as a stopover during autumn and spring migration, as well as that millions of birds fly over the Ulcinj Salt Flat every year on their way to their final destination. .

As they add, on June 24, 2019, Ulcinjska Solana was declared a protected area - Nature Park, as well as a wetland of international importance and included in the Ramsar world list of wetlands.

"With the annex to the lease agreement with the bankrupt company AD Solana "Bajo Sekulić", JPNPCG has extended the lease of the property of the company AD "Bajo Sekulić", from Ulcinj, until February 1, 2022," they said.
