Specialized water supply equipment, which will enable better and more regular water supply, was purchased as part of the EU project "Improving water supply management in urban and rural parts of the municipalities of Kolašin and Rogatica".
As announced by the Kolasin Municipality. it is about modern equipment for detection of losses.
“The equipment includes correlation radio loggers, a universal pipe, valve and metal locator, an electro-acoustic loss detection device and an ultrasonic flow meter. In addition, chlorination equipment, 25 valves, 400 water meters and two fixed flow meters were purchased. The value of the equipment is around 94.000 euros," the local administration announced.
They suggest that in the coming period, a ten-day training should be organized for the employees of the company "Vodovod i kanalizacija". In this way, workers will be educated about the basic principles and concept of operation of loss detection equipment. In addition, they will be trained to independently use the mentioned devices and locate faults, detect illegal connections to the water supply network and become familiar with the principles of reducing unaccounted water (NRW).
Water losses in transport and distribution have been the key problems of Kolašin water supply until now. As Momčilo Bulatović, director of the company Vodovod i Kanalizacija, previously told Vijesti, "30 percent of water is lost due to damage to the main lines of the old and new water supply and secondary network.
The project "Improvement of water supply management in urban and rural parts of the municipalities of Kolašin and Rogatica" is financed by the European Union within the IPA cross-border program BiH-Montenegro. It is implemented by the municipalities of Kolašin and Rogatica in the period from February 1, 2020 to July 31, 2022. The total value of the project is slightly more than 577.000, of which the EU provided around 487.000 euros in grants.
