More than 160 participants attended the three-day Cross Border Coworking conference in Budva where 25 speakers from 11 countries spoke about digital nomads and the coworking scene.
The conference was attended by coworking managers and coworkers from the region, digital nomads, freelancers, entrepreneurs, representatives of organizations that provide support for the development of the business environment, and representatives of public institutions and decision makers.
"Everyone had one common goal - to draw conclusions and recommendations necessary to present the countries of the region as attractive destinations for digital nomads. The conference clearly highlighted the potential of adapting the current way of working to contemporary trends with an emphasis on digital nomadism as a lifestyle. Interactive panel discussions gave rise to advantages countries of the region for digital nomads - relatively low cost of living, safety, climate conditions, openness and warmth of people," the press release states.

As stated, it was pointed out that the countries of the region should not focus on attracting the average digital nomad but on creating opportunities for everyone, but that in this process they should not see each other as competition, but as collaborators and partners.

The fact that a visa is not crucial for digital nomads when choosing a destination was also discussed, and service packages for digital nomads that will soon be offered by Code Hub's network of coworking spaces in Mostar, Nikšić, Tuzla and Zadar were also presented. Through the example of Dubrovnik, the importance of cooperation between the tourist community, local authorities, and individuals and organizations that can offer the aforementioned target group quality content during their stay at a certain location is highlighted.

"Digital nomads and remote work were discussed from the perspective of digital nomads who highlighted the advantages of this lifestyle, but also positive impressions of the countries of the region. Remote work was also defined as a tool for improving the efficiency of companies, better organization of teams and healthier lifestyle. This was also confirmed by the representatives of the regional media when they spoke about how they adapted their work to the new situation that required remote work," the announcement reads.

The conference, organized by the Technopolis Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and INTERA Technology Park, was also an opportunity to discuss the coworking scene in the countries of the Western Balkans through the presentation of research results, discussions with representatives of coworking spaces, and a review of the situation before and after the global pandemic.
