The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in accordance with the provisions of the new Law on Internal Affairs, has formed a Disciplinary Commission that will be responsible for conducting disciplinary proceedings for serious violations of official duties committed by police officers, the Ministry announced.

Snežana Vujović, the head of the Group for Investigation and Suppression of Juvenile Delinquency and Domestic Violence of the Police Administration, was elected as the president of the commission.

The members of the Disciplinary Commission are Boris Andušić - representative of the Police Administration, Smail Bošnjak, Marijana Vico and Vida Radomirović - representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and their deputies Mirsada Crnovršanin, Aleksandar Laketić and Biljana Leovac, while the secretary of the Disciplinary Commission is Ljubica Damjanović, an advisor in the Minister's Cabinet.

"The president and members of the Disciplinary Commission are aware of the responsibility entrusted to them, and will perform their work conscientiously, impartially and professionally, all with the aim of increasing citizens' trust in the work and actions of police officers", it was announced after the session of the Disciplinary Commission.

In this way, a significant volume of work from the jurisdiction of the Disciplinary Commission responsible for conducting disciplinary proceedings for serious violations of official duty against civil servants, formed on the basis of the Law on Civil Servants and State Employees, is transferred to the jurisdiction of the Disciplinary Commission of the MUP.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs adds that the new law foresees that a certain number of violations of work obligations, which were previously in the category of minor, are now classified as serious, and new institutes of serious violations of official duty have been introduced, which, bearing in mind that the Police Directorate employs over 4000 police officers, greatly increases the number of these cases.
