A contingent of 40.000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines arrived in Montenegro today, the Ministry of Health announced.
The statement added that "from the previously delivered 10.000, the delivery of a total of 50.000 vaccines from the Russian manufacturer has been completed as a result of bilateral negotiations of the Ministry of Health, i.e. the Government of Montenegro, with an expert team consisting of competent representatives of the Russian government and vaccine manufacturers".
On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the shipment of vaccines was welcomed to Montefarm by Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović and Director General of the Directorate for Digital Health Aleksandar Sekulić, and the Ambassador of Russia to Montenegro Vladislav Maslenikov was also present.
"I am pleased to announce to Montenegrin citizens and the entire public that today a contingent of 40.000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19 infection has arrived in Montenegro, thus continuing the delivery of vaccines from this manufacturer. So, 20.000 citizens, who are eagerly awaiting this very vaccine, from Saturday, October 16, they will be able to receive the first dose, and later the second, and be completely immunized with Sputnik V. Today is an opportunity to say that I am glad that the authorities managed to overcome the difficulties in the production of the second dose of Sputnik V vaccine, which will certainly be welcomed in our country with great pleasure," said Borovinić Bojović in Montefarm, where the vaccines were delivered.
According to her, this delivery represents a complete process of procuring vaccines from a Russian manufacturer.
"I want to express my gratitude and respect to the Russian Government for its understanding, readiness and contribution to ensure that the vaccines come to Montenegro as soon as possible, as well as to the ambassador, Mr. Vladislav Maslenikov. I must emphasize that out of these 40, we have so far provided a total of about 920 thousands of vaccines from different manufacturers, including: Pajzer, Astra Zeneka, Sinofarm, Sputnjik V. In the coming period, the arrival of 100 thousand doses of Sinovak vaccine is also expected," the minister announced.
She once again appealed to citizens to get vaccinated.
"There is enough vaccine, so once again I call on citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible, so that we can bring the epidemic under control as soon as possible and stop the chain of infection. Only a high percentage of vaccination guarantees that we can return life to normal," said the minister.
Ambassador of Russia in Montenegro Vladislav Maslenikov said that the arrival of 40.000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine is very significant, and that the citizens of Montenegro were waiting for them, because they have confidence in the effectiveness and quality of this vaccine.
"The Russian vaccine is already registered in 70 countries around the world, with a total population of over four billion. I know that there is also a lot of interest in the Russian Sputnik Light vaccine, which consists of one dose and is used in the revaccination phase and is ongoing procedure for approving its application in Montenegro. We hope that this procedure will soon be successfully completed and that with joint efforts we will be able to fight the pandemic," Maslenikov pointed out.
