In the "Savo Pejanović" Elementary School in Podgorica, a chess competition was held today, in which 69 students from that educational institution participated.
In the age group from 6th to 9th grade, the first was Anja Aćimić, the second was Radulović Milutin, while the third was Stojović Boris.
In the junior selection (ranked 1-5), Jovan Obradović was first, Mihailo Milićević second, Ognjen Drašković third.
As explained by the director of the school, Zoran Đukić, the tournament is organized with the aim of developing chess in schools, and he will personally advocate that this ancient game on 64 squares be introduced as an optional subject.
"69 students of the school applied for the competition. We also have a Chess School, which is attended by 80 students", said Đukić.
As he explained, children need to develop chess skills from the lower grades.
It is interesting, as he stated, that the most students from the first to the sixth grade applied for the Chess School, and twenty of them from the sixth to the eighth grade.
"We don't have anyone from the ninth grade in the Chess School," Djukic said.
The best chess players from today's competition, as Đukić said, will receive diplomas.
