In the past few days, the Secretariat for Spatial Planning of the Municipality of Tivat procured 56 seedlings of ornamental trees and 40 seedlings of ornamental shrubs, whose planting has already begun on public areas in the city with a focus on the Great City Park, the park on Dar Petković Square and the park on Trg od kulture.
It was announced from the Municipality of Tivat that the procurement was carried out in accordance with the measures provided for in the framework of local plans in the field of environmental protection, and the planting and further maintenance of the seedlings will be carried out by "Komunalno" doo Tivat.
Seedlings of woody species are about two to about 4,5 meters high, while seedlings of bushy species are about 60 cm high.
The selection of species was focused on those that are already represented in the dendroflora of the city's green areas, then on the introduction of some new species that, according to their biological characteristics, are suitable for planting on public areas, all in accordance with the microclimatic conditions of the area where they will be planted.
In this way, species of conifers and deciduous trees that are already represented in a certain number in the dendroflora of the city's green areas were acquired - common cypress, Atlas and Himalayan cedar, tulipwood, liquodambar, albicia, sycamore, koščela, linden, etc., but also seedlings of two types of conifers that are rarely found in this area - the Californian cypress and swamp cypress, whose introduction is aimed at increasing biological diversity in urban areas.
