The residents of Vrela Ribnički in Podgorica appealed to the authorities to repair the bridge on Ribnica that connects the village with Kakaricka Gora, because it is in bad condition and poses a danger to pedestrians and drivers.
They point out that they have addressed the authorities several times, but nothing concrete has been done, and that the bridge will collapse if the authorities do not take action.
They say that a few days ago, part of the bridge collapsed when a van was passing by, but luckily the vehicle did not overturn and there were no injuries.
"I am a native of Vrele Ribnički. The bridge over the river Ribnica was built by my late father, in actions with volunteers more than 30 years ago. "Ten and more years of promises to repair and expand the bridge, but nothing has come of it," he said Nebojsa Popadić.
He says that he also spoke to the former mayor Slavoljub Stijepović and that more than three years ago, a recording and study was done, which provided for the creation of a promenade near the bridge, at the first springs under the park.
"In June of this year, after my email to the mayor Ivan Vuković, they responded to my request from the Capital City. They came from 'Putevo' to record the situation, but nothing since then," said Popadić.
He said that the bridge is dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers, and that part of it recently collapsed when a van was crossing.
"I am asking for an urgent solution to the problem, because children and many locals cross the bridge every day, human life is at stake, because now it is especially dangerous to cross there. I think it's sad that in the 21st century, in the capital - Podgorica, there is a bridge like this and a situation like this in general".
The "Vijesti" reporter was convinced that the bridge is in a bad condition, and that a large landslide, on the Kakaricka side, threatens to spread to the rest of the structure.
On the same side where the landslide occurred, part of the fence is missing, which represents an additional danger.
