Completed works connecting Herceg Novi to the regional water system

The construction works of connecting the Municipality of Herceg Novi to the regional water supply system have been completed and in the coming days it is expected that this municipality will be connected to the system.

This was announced at a meeting of representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Podgorica with the director of the Regional Waterworks of the Montenegrin Coast, Josip Đurašković.

The aim of the meeting, as announced, was to introduce the leadership of the EBRD office in Podgorica, and the bank's senior representatives for the Western Balkans, with the newly elected management of the Regional Waterworks.

As stated, the goal of the meeting was to jointly intensify the dynamics of activities on the implementation of infrastructure construction projects for water supply and waste water removal, with a special emphasis on the construction and definition of the location for the waste water treatment plant for the settlements of Dobra voda and Veliki pijesak.

"Implementation of this project, which was supported by the Government, and whose Conceptual Decision is currently being developed, will contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the citizens of the Municipality of Bar and a better and more sustainable valorization of the tourist potential of the settlements of Dobra voda and Veliki pijesak", says the announcement.

That project, as stated, represents the continuation of a very successful cooperation with a significant financial institution such as the EBRD, which in the past resulted in the construction of a system for the regional water supply of the Montenegrin coast, which was partly financed from the funds allocated by that bank.

Đurašković informed the representatives of the Bank that the obstacles to the implementation of the project connecting the municipality of Herceg Novi to the regional water system have been successfully removed, that all construction works have been completed and that in the coming days it is expected that the municipality of Herceg Novi will finally be connected to the system.

"In this way, water from the regional water supply system will be available to all municipalities on the Montenegrin coast," the announcement states.

Representatives of the EBRD and the Regional Water Supply Company expressed their willingness and commitment to the implementation of projects that fundamentally improve the quality of life of the local population and create an environment conducive to overall economic development.

"Which leads to the conclusion that it is necessary as soon as possible to conceive a plan for the implementation of activities on the establishment of water supply and sewerage infrastructure for the areas of Dobra vode and Veliki Pijesak, as well as to establish a dynamic plan for the implementation of the same," the announcement states.
