In June of last year, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Podgorica informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the then editor-in-chief and founder of the portal "Borba" Drazen Zivkovic threatened to use his media and media influence to point out alleged irregularities in the work of the Embassy if his brother Goran Živković they do not pay 30.000 euros for mental pain suffered due to dismissal.
In a letter that "Vijesti" had access to, the UAE Embassy informed the MFA that they terminated the employment contract with Goran Živković due to his allegedly aggressive behavior towards the ambassador and other employees of that diplomatic mission, but also due to, as they stated, the disclosure of information about the ambassador's movement and abuse of the official vehicle.
They add that Živković turned to the Agency for Peaceful Resolution of Labor Disputes, but that his brother Dražen came to the meeting of the legal representatives of the two parties.
The then editor of "Borba" allegedly claimed at the meeting that the termination of the contract with his brother was not valid and that the entire procedure was illegal.
He allegedly told the legal representative of the UAE Embassy that, if his brother is not paid 30.000 euros as compensation for the mental pain he suffered due to the termination of his employment relationship, he will use "Borba" to point out the alleged irregularities in the Embassy "with which he has already familiar and will find out in the future".
The lawyer of the Embassy replied to him that his brother had signed a contract that was created in accordance with the legislation of the Emirates, and that accordingly he would be paid exactly 11.206 euros, according to the letter.
Živković told "Vijesta" that his brother is conducting court proceedings "due to the illegal dismissal he received as a driver at the UAE Embassy, and this proceeding has been ongoing before the Basic Court in Podgorica for a year."
"It is clear that my brother will win the case, so now they want to put pressure on the court and divert attention from the illegality committed by the UAE Embassy," Živković claims.
The Embassy of the UAE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to "Vijesta" questions regarding this case.
According to the knowledge of "Vijesti", the National Security Agency was also informed about the case, which also did not receive an answer to the question of what they did regarding that notification.
There was no response from the Police Administration either.
According to data from the Central Register of Business Entities, Dražen Živković is the founder and authorized representative of the "Borba" portal, a newspaper considered close to the Democratic Front and the authorities in Serbia. At the beginning of February, he was appointed editor-in-chief of Prva TV in Montenegro.
She is the ambassador of the UAE in Montenegro Nabila Abdelaziz Naser Said Alshamsi. It is a letter of credit to the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović submitted in mid-May 2020. She has been the Minister of Foreign Affairs since the formation of the new Government Đorđe Radulović. He inherited this position Srđan Darmanović.
Živković: They are persecuting me and my family
Živković claims that it is clear that "my brother was fired because of me and my critical attitude towards the previous regime, as well as my participation in rallies".
"As is well known, I was arrested several times, without evidence and without a judicial epilogue, so the persecution continued against my family members, and someone wants the persecution to continue now. And the fact that the lie was spread by the UAE Embassy is proven by the fact that for a year since the court case has been going on, not a single letter about the dispute and the procedure has been published in any media, neither in Montenegro nor in the world, so it is clear who wants to put pressure on the court by publishing falsehoods".
He stated that in 2020, they claim that if they do not pay money for mental pain, they will be the subject of a media chase".
"They did not pay the money, and the media did not write about the case. They have already denied themselves in that letter, because they claim that they will be the target of a media attack if the money for mental pain is not paid. More than a year has passed since their untrue report, as you can see, no money for mental pain or on any other grounds has been paid to my brother, the court proceedings have been going on for a year, you can check that in the Basic Court in Podgorica, and in the media it was not written about. So time has confirmed that they lied," added Živković.
