Locals of Kraljske Bar reminded the institutions that the problems in that village have not been solved yet

With another protest gathering due to the construction of small hydropower plants (MHP), the residents of Kraljski Bar reminded the public and competent institutions that their problem has not been solved. On the contrary, they said, the problem is still current, "although the public of Montenegro may think that all the problems surrounding the MHP have been solved."

"The concession contract for the construction of the MHE in our village has still not been terminated, even though a year and a half ago the locals sent all the evidence and facts to all state authorities about this harmful business that directly affects basic human rights - the right to a healthy environment and the right to water. In this region, as in any other region of Montenegro, there is no life without water, so the locals are surprised by the state's intention to, through such projects, "force" the locals to move out. In addition to disputed documents, reports, permits and works that are not even even in the past 10 years, the locals are surprised by the attitude of the state towards its citizens and state property. They are surprised by the slow resolution of the pressing problems of this region and the Nature Park "Komovi" in the municipality of Kolašin," said the meeting.

According to the locals, "despite all the letters and reports about the theft of the watercourse for which the concessionaire was not issued a single permit, the state authorities are still silent". It was ordered from the jury "that it seems as if everyone is distancing themselves from that job and responsibility"

"The Basic State Prosecutor's Office from Kolašin is also silent. For 14 months, it has not been able to establish that one watercourse, for which a criminal complaint was submitted, does not belong to another watercourse, which is covered by the concession, and that it has nothing to do with the concessionary watercourse, which is basis for launching an investigation against the concessionaire. Only based on the facts and the situation on the ground about the works on the Cestogaz watercourse, which can be confirmed very quickly by the competent state institutions, the prosecution and the state can easily determine the wrongful and bad intentions of the concessionaire regarding this work, and enter into the termination of permits and concessions," they claim in Kraljski Bari.

As in all previous protest rallies, they asked the state to immediately terminate the concession contract and all permits for the construction of the MHP in this region, remove all pipes and materials, and restore the Cestogaz watercourse to its original condition. Locals of Kraljske Bar also demand the prosecution of those "responsible for stealing the natural resource of water". They again said not to give "a drop" of their rivers.
