The fire at the Navar marina in Bonići near Tivat was extinguished a little before 20 p.m. tonight.
The fire broke out shortly after 17:XNUMX p.m. for reasons not yet officially determined.
According to unofficial information, the fire broke out during work on the electrical installation of a 24-meter luxury motor yacht of the "Pearl 80" type, which was almost completely destroyed by the fire.
From it, the fire spread to the metal "Falcon", which was also badly damaged because its entire superstructure was burnt, and the fire also engulfed the bow of a smaller nearby fiberglass yacht.
The lucky circumstance in everything is that the "Pearl 80" type yacht, on which the fire first broke out, was still on the trailer, so Navarre workers and firefighters were still able to push it away from the other few dozen yachts already stored in the marina on the dry dock. in Bonići and thus prevent a bigger disaster.
According to the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Municipality of Tivat, Milorad Giljača, the fire engulfed two larger motor yachts located on the so-called dry dock - taken out of the sea on the operational coast of the marina.
Firefighters from Tivat, assisted by fellow volunteers from three local volunteer fire brigades, localized the fire shortly before 19 p.m. and prevented the fire from spreading to numerous other yachts located in the immediate vicinity of the two burning ships.
In addition to Tivat firefighters, members of the Protection and Rescue Service (SZS) Kotor also participated in the extinguishing operation.
In addition to the two yachts on which the fire immediately broke out, the fire also damaged another nearby ship.
The firefighting ship "Jovana" of the Porto Montenegro marina also took part in extinguishing the fire.
The damage is in the millions, but the firefighters managed to prevent the leaking and explosion of oil from the tanks of the burning yachts.
The team of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration of Montenegro (UPSUL) was also ready at sea, but there was no need for its intervention with the installation of floating dams, because all the by-products of the fire and extinguishing, as well as spills of oily liquids, remained on the coast and did not reach the the sea.
During the fire, the EPIRB buoy from the burning 24-meter yacht "Falcon" activated and sent a satellite call for help.
The signal for help was "caught" by the maritime authorities in France, who immediately, according to the usual procedure, contacted their colleagues from UPSUL of Montenegro, from whom they then received information about the nature of the incident and the fact that, fortunately, there were no injuries.
During the extinguishing of the fire on the yachts in the Navar marina, the President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović was also present.
The investigation will determine the official causes of the fire, which caused great material damage
