The Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ratko Mitrović and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Montenegro Vladislav Maslenikov held a meeting where they exchanged the opinions and experiences of Montenegro and Russia in the field of environmental protection, with special reference to climate change, energy and energy transition.
Mitrović, as announced by the department he heads, introduced Maslenikov to the organization and working methods of the Ministry and presented him with projects and areas of mutual interest.
"Russia has 44 national parks and vast experience in managing them, which would be of great benefit to us," the minister said.
Additionally, he pointed out that the Solari 3000+ project was launched on the initiative of the Ministry of Ecology, which "gave an impetus to the energy transition in Montenegro", and given the vast experience and Russian resources in the field of energy, he stated, it is possible to establish cooperation on that as well. field.
The participants of the meeting, as announced by the Ministry, agreed in this regard to consider the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation.
Maslenikov, it is added, pointed out that Montenegro and Russia are historically connected, and that the exchange of knowledge and experience is a process that should take place continuously. In the light of climate change and energy transition, the ambassador told Mitrović that Russia will strive for carbon neutrality by 2060 and that the country pays great attention and importance to its forests.
