Tenants of one of the oldest buildings in Nikšić no longer have to worry: the roof does not leak, the facade has been renovated

Residents of one of the oldest buildings in Nikšić, in Novaka Ramova Street, will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief - the facade of the front part of the building has been repaired and the roof repaired, so they will no longer have to worry about whether parts of the canopy, which were constantly falling down, will hurt someone. and they will also be able to put away the buckets they kept because of the leaking roof.

"In Nikšić, the facades are in the worst condition, and this building was a priority. The front part of the facade was urgently repaired, which was the most critical, as well as the gutter, and damages were repaired on the roof so that it does not leak. In the spring, a complete facade and roof change will be done, through the Municipality's program. We wanted to do the second part of the facade as well, but the weather is already cold, so we will do everything in the spring. The Municipality of Nikšić is here as a service for the citizens and with all the efforts of the entire management and teamwork, we meet everyone as much as possible", said the Secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection, Đorđije Manojlović, to "News".

For years, the tenants of the building sent letters to the previous local administration because of the roof structure, which is in the process of decay, the canopy, the leaking roof and the facade, from which the plaster is falling off.

They only got promises.

Last month, Manojlović promised that the local administration would carry out urgent rehabilitation.

"Tenants have been visiting the thresholds of the former municipal building in vain for years to rehabilitate the ruined building in which we live. Finally, we found understanding with Mr. Manojlović, and with the selfless help of 'Vijesti', which continuously reported on our problem, part of the work regarding the renovation and facade of the building was finally solved. We are extremely grateful, as well as to the contractor, Miloš Draganić and his group of workers, who did the job very correctly", said building tenant Radovan Tomić.

The building of the former Railway Transport Company (ŽTP) was built almost seven decades ago, has ten residential units, and the first tenants moved in in 1953 and 1954.

Only a few tenants currently live in it, who are not financially able to solve the problem with the dilapidated building, while the other apartments are either abandoned or rented out.
