The Plužine Protection and Rescue Service is ready to reach all the rural households that need help this winter due to snow and impassable roads, as happened in previous years.
"Considering that the municipality of Plužine is predominantly mountainous, winters are usually snowy and long-lasting. Given that the villages are predominantly elderly households, our interventions during the winter are frequent and concern the transportation of sick persons by snowmobiles, the delivery of medicines, food, and fuel", the commander of the Protection Service told "Vijesta" Mirko Cicmil.
As he stated, they are ready both in terms of manpower and snowmobiles, and they are telling the villagers that they will reach anyone who needs help.
"We are aware that due to large blizzards, cleaning the roads will be impossible and that our engagement will be necessary. And in previous years, we have been at the service of citizens, so people in one part feel safe because they know that we are always available to solve problems related to snow and snow accidents. The most complicated area for our activities during the winter is the area of Piva Mountain", said Cicmil.
The service has nine firefighters, rescuers and one administrative worker, and Cicmil points out that the employees in the previous period underwent a set of trainings related to the rules of conduct in case of fire and emergency situations, and that they will continue with adequate trainings this year as well, all in with the aim of improving work and the best possible readiness of employees.
"The equipment that the Service has at its disposal is a Unimag fire engine, an all-terrain passenger vehicle, snowmobiles and personal equipment. What we lack, and what we will try to acquire in the coming period, is demolition tools, communication equipment, suits for approaching fire and a boat for the needs of water rescue", said the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service.
During the last year, they had almost 90 interventions, and 65 were related to fires.
