Citizens' Union CIVIS appealed to the institutions in Montenegro to help the actress Vesna Pećanac in accordance with the legal possibilities, in order to "enable her a life worthy of a human being".
"The widow of the famous Živko Nikolić, according to the information published by the media over the years, which culminated in her last photos from the folk kitchen in Belgrade, must not spend her life in misery and poverty, because she herself contributed to the affirmation of Montenegrin culture and because her husband is his marked an epoch with his works for all time, shooting dozens of films that gained fame in the Yugoslav regions, but also at major world festivals in Moscow, Paris, Montreal, Cairo...", the announcement states.
CIVIS claims that often the highest national awards and national pensions were awarded "according to party directives" to persons whose contribution to Montenegrin culture and society, as they judge, "cannot be compared to Živkov or is non-existent".
"More than two decades have passed since Živko's death. His work does not fade - streets and awards bear his name, and tributes are made in his honor... His family does not benefit from this, and Vesni Pećanac must not have any administrative or any kind of help. other barriers, because it is the moral obligation of Montenegro, that is, those who make decisions on behalf of the citizens. Tens of Živko's prestigious awards, including the Thirteenth of July Award, also oblige the state to do so," the announcement concludes.
