The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has published a list of countries from which the import and transit of live domestic and wild pigs, meat and products from domestic and wild pigs is prohibited.
The list was released today.
From the surrounding countries, import and transit are prohibited from Serbia from the Pirot district, Zaječar district, Bor district, Braničevo district and Podunavski district, as well as from North Macedonia.
The Ministry of Agriculture has unofficially confirmed to "Vijesta" that the import of pigs is prohibited due to the African plague.
"African swine fever is spreading again, so we only allow imports from regions where it does not exist," the source of "Vijesti" explained.
Imports from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova are also prohibited.
The import and transit of live domestic and wild pigs, meat and products from domestic and wild pigs is also prohibited from the Philippines, East Timor, Indonesia, India, South Africa, South Korea, China, Kenya, Laos, Myanmar, Namibia, Nigeria, the Coast Ivory Coast, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and Zambia.
