The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vesna Bratić, today presented the highest award in the field of upbringing and education, as well as pupil and student standards, the state award "Oktoih" for the year 2021, to Biljana Mićković, professor of geography at JU Elementary School, in Villa Gorica. "Braća Labudović", Nikšić and Mirjana Perović, professors of Montenegrin-Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian language and literature at the "Slobodan Škerović" Junior High School, Podgorica, was announced by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MPNKS).
The press release adds that a ceremony was held on this occasion, where besides Bratić, the president of the jury, Andrija Radulović, who is also the director of the Directorate for the encouragement and development of cultural and artistic creativity in MPNKS, and this year's laureate, Mirjana Perović, addressed the audience.

Bratić pointed out that for all of us this is an important day on which we are reminded of the great and glorious past of traditional Montenegro and our ancestors, whom we strive to be worthy of, because in the harsh conditions of the merciless struggle for survival, they had an ear for the importance of the written word, which it puts Crnojevic and Petrović's Montenegro on the map of the most developed countries in Europe and the world.
"There is a famous biblical maxim: "In the beginning there was a word", and the Montenegrins can lavishly boast and say that they multiplied that word and for centuries they have been saying: "In the beginning there was a book!" its impressive and enviable volume of 269 sheets or 538 pages, many today's printers would envy, with full right, despite all modern digital means, to achieve the quality and durability of a printed book, such as were achieved in Cetinje more than five centuries ago ", said Bratić and added that this is precisely why the traditional awarding of the highest recognition in the field of upbringing and education, established in 1970, is a reminder of the exceptional contribution that educators make to society as a whole.
She added that the nobility and responsibility of the professor's vocation are reflected in a lifelong mission, which does not mean only the transfer of knowledge, but the shaping and development of the student's personality, with the aim of creating free citizens, and a free individual is creative, successful and empathetic.
She expressed her belief that, with the "Oktoih" award, the MPNKS shows due respect to educators, who, in the previous year, full of challenges, in the difficult circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, put in extra effort and enthusiasm, in order to articulate the vision of the future of our society. , guiding new generations towards true values.
"Their leadership, we deeply believe, encourages and affirms all employees in the education system to continue on that path and trace the path of society's development, based on knowledge, creativity and culture," concluded Bratić.
Radulović stated that every society, first of all, develops with knowledge, which rules the modern world, that's why someone did a good job more than half a century ago by establishing the State Award "Oktoih" for the torchbearers of our education, who give real value to Montenegro , as a symbol and memory of a great date - the first Cyrillic book printed in the South of Slovenia.
"Teachers are also people who, along with their pedagogical task, awaken a feeling of love for the world and for man, forming personalities with character, and character is the destiny of man, as Heraclitus teaches us, whose laws in philosophy are still valid today," said Radulović, informing present that 2021 proposals were received at the Public Competition for the Oktoih State Award for 21.
Radulović explained that the awarded Biljana Mićković, professor of geography, in addition to high achieved results in the teaching process, professionally and scientifically improved, got a master's degree and a doctorate in geography at the University of Montenegro, and as a teacher in basic education raised the high standard of the calling she chose among her colleagues. and generations of students, who confirmed their knowledge of geography in many competitions and in further education, recording only successes.
"Mirjana Perović, professor of Montenegrin-Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian language and literature at the Junior High School "Slobodan Škerović" - Podgorica, has been one of the leading figures of this prestigious educational institution for thirty-five years, achieving outstanding results in the educational process, standing out for her professional qualities as an exceptional pedagogue, lecturer, researcher and organizer of many activities and cultural events. a large number of sample, prestigious and public classes, guest appearances, she was the mentor of student projects dedicated to the oeuvre of Danil Kiš, she initiated the first electronic tests and authored programs and tests for external knowledge verification," said Radulović.
Perović believes that every new school year and every day in the work of a professor present new challenges.
"From generation to generation, we are in classrooms with young people who tomorrow will solve the concerns and problems of all of us, from the small, everyday ones to the most important ones in life, and that is why our profession carries a special responsibility: to share the necessary knowledge with the students, to train them to apply them in all areas of life, let's open the door to the worlds of science and beauty for them, to be at least a small guide in their lives in raising their personality and building a value system, while they grow into virtuous people. sometimes they remember all of us, our working life was not in vain," concluded Perović.
