Tivat: Japan gave money for new emergency equipment

The President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović announced that very soon there will be operational funds from the donation of the Government of Japan, which will significantly improve the equipment of the Protection and Rescue Service in that municipality.

The Government of Japan provided a donation of 68.265 euros to the Municipality of Tivat for the procurement of equipment for emergency situations.

This was achieved through the project, which was initiated and led by the manager of the Municipality, Patricia Pobrić.

With that money, according to Komnenović, the Municipality will purchase 30 pieces of new protective fire suits for members of the SZS Tivat, a machine for filling fire extinguishers and a set of rescue equipment - a hydraulic tool for demolition and intervention in the event of traffic accidents (cutter, ripper and telescopic cylinder).

"The acquisition of new protective suits and other means will significantly improve the equipment of the Tivat Protection Service, as well as create the preconditions for the formation of an adequately equipped and certified workshop for charging and servicing anti-theft devices within that Service, which will enable SZS to achieve in the future and additional income from the performance of that activity", said Komnenović, revealing that after the delivery of the new, existing equipment and protective suits, which are now used by professional firefighters in Tivat, will be distributed to the bankrupts of the local voluntary fire brigades.

Regarding the imminent relocation of the Tivat Protection and Rescue Service to a new temporary location until the construction of the new Fire Station, Komnenović said that the Ministry of Defense has given the former military facility in Opatovo to the local government for temporary use.

"However, there is only a carport in good condition, while the accommodation facilities are completely devastated and to bring them to an acceptable condition, at least 30.000 euros should be invested. This is not worth it, especially when you consider that Opatovo is slated for sale and demolition, as well as tourism valorization, so we are closer to the decision to buy several already equipped containers that we will place there for use by members of the SZS until the Fire Station is built. home", stated the mayor of Tivat.
