The regional recycling center will not "under its windows"

Residents of Bogetići and the Pešivac region organized a protest rally in Bogetići due to the announcement by the Nikšić local administration that a regional recycling center for eight municipalities will be built in Stubica.

"Never in the past do we remember such a consensus as now, that everyone opposes the construction of a regional recycling center to the last," said Miajlo Škuletić, one of the organizers of the meeting.

As he pointed out, their Local Government (MJ) has several hundred citizens, and the construction of a recycling center would "put into question the survival of normal and healthy life in the territory of Pješivci". He pointed out that the meeting has no political context, and that they support the idea of ​​solving the problem of waste disposal, but not under their windows, because he is convinced that there are places in the municipality of Nikšić where no human foot has "set foot in the last 30 years".

According to him, no one asked the locals for their opinion regarding the planned construction of the recycling center.

"We locals believe that there are no valid arguments for the construction of a regional recycling center at that location," said Škuletić and added that there are many reasons why a recycling center should not be built in the town of Stubica.

The reasons that, according to him, do not recommend Stubica as a regional recycling center are - the characteristic wind rose, the karst terrain with numerous watercourses, and at a distance of 250 meters from the tunnel there is a well with 60 meters of water, during longer rainy periods in the Stubički doli. underground water is erupting, and the distance to the nearest sinkhole is about 70 meters from the place where the landfill is planned, it is a well-known beekeeping region with more than 3.000 wintering colonies, households live from agriculture, three permanent households live in the immediate vicinity, while in the village of Paprati , which is close, spends ten winters, the real estate would be devalued by the construction of the center...

He said that they wrote to the President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević, twice, that they handed him a petition with almost 500 signatures, and that he invited them to a meeting only after they informed the public about the protest through the local media.

"We received superficial and unconvincing answers from him. We are encouraged by his statement that the location in Stubica has not been definitively determined for the implementation of the project. We call on the local administration to provide us with an insight into the studies that have been prepared for this project, which are not available to citizens for now, and to publicly announce which experts have been hired for the construction of the studies," said Škuletić.

Momo Kontić, who is also one of the organizers, said that Kovačević was asked to attend the meeting, but that he could not respond to their invitation due to his earlier commitments.

"He promised us that next Saturday he would come with people from the profession, i.e. from the Government. The congregation has only one item on the agenda, and that is - not to build a recycling center in Stubica, because we want to preserve that we can live healthily in our Pješivci", said Kontić and added that there are about fifty exemplary households in that area who have mini farms.

According to local resident Mitra Magovčević, it is brave that the president of Nikšić municipality said that "the case is not set in concrete".

"He justifies that he will be contemporary. I am a teacher. We took the students to the Podgorica recycling center and had to take them out after five minutes. We are still in contact with the local administration and we are looking to get out of this crisis created not by our will in a reasonable way", said Magovčević and added that the meeting in Bogetići was a warning protest, and that further moves depend on the local administration.

It is planned that the recycling center will process waste from eight municipalities - Nikšić, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Plužine, Šavnik and Žabljak.

Nikčević: Tributes were never collected in Stubica

Milorad Nikčević, who says that his house is about 200 meters away from the place planned for the regional recycling center, said that Stubica is not a village that no longer exists.

"Yes, it has been displaced, but Stubica will exist. The youth is growing and we heard from the conversation that many are interested in returning to their hearths and repairing their houses. Some have already returned, they have flocks and herds of sheep. Many will return to repair those walls. No tribute was ever collected in that village of ours. Whoever tried, failed miserably. He left via Pandurica with a horse-drawn carriage," said Nikčević.

Kovačević: Stubica is the best-rated location, the concern of citizens for environmental protection is pleasing

The President of the Municipality Marko Kovačević pointed out that the protest is the natural right of citizens to express their opinion and that he is glad that, unlike the time when the natural environment was so devastated, there is now a stronger awareness and will of the locals about the need to protect their environment.

He pointed out that he received representatives of the locals and informed them that the Ministry of Ecology, Urbanism and Spatial Planning had conducted a study on the selection of the best location for the regional recycling center, that Stubica was the best-rated location according to that study, and that the entire process was transparent and that were all able to get to know each other in time.

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm not someone who insists on that or any other location. We agreed that the Ministry should do the study, and the municipal commission also gave the same opinion. What is important is that there is no landfill planned in Stubica, but a recycling center that can do no more harm to the environment than the gravel extraction facilities that existed or exist there. "I think that the experts should explain the situation to the locals in detail, and I offered that after the local community bodies are formed next week, a representative of Bogetić will take part in the work of our commission that is preparing a public call for a recycling center," Kovačević said.

He pointed out that a regional recycling center, which would be built according to the highest European standards, would solve a big problem and create the preconditions for opening new jobs.

On Tuesday, Dutch people interested in the rehabilitation of Mislo dol are coming

The Secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection, Đorđije Manojlović, said that representatives of the Dutch company are coming on Tuesday, who are interested in rehabilitating the illegal landfill Mislov do.

"The plan is for that company to extract methane from the existing landfill, to build a gas power plant, a generator, and for Elektroprivreda to purchase the electricity produced. When they run out of methane, they will cultivate Mislov do," said Manojlović.

The temporary landfill, which will be in operation until the construction of the recycling center, will be located near the existing one at Mislovi Dol, Manojlović said, and not, as the locals claim, in Stubica.

"Why would you create a new environmental black spot?" The new landfill, which will be temporary, will be next to the existing one and built according to all standards," said Manojlović.

He claims that a public hearing will be organized regarding the construction of the regional recycling center and that the residents of Bogetić will be invited to attend it.
