The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, announced that he had submitted a Proposal for Vesna Pećanac to obtain Montenegrin citizenship.
"Ms. Pećanac, our prominent actress and wife of the late Živko Nikolić, a great of Montenegrin cinematography, deserves it. With her successful theater, film and television roles, Mrs. Pećanac made a significant contribution to the promotion of Montenegro and its culture, for which we are immensely grateful." , wrote Bečić on Twitter.

In the explanation of the proposal, which Bečić sent to the Minister of the Interior, Sergej Sekulović, it is stated that "the fact that it is not only about a top actress, but also the wife of one of the greats of Montenegrin cinematography, Živko Nikolić, additionally obliges the competent state authorities to meet her desire for admission to Montenegrin citizenship".
"Therefore, I propose that in accordance with Article 12 of the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship, Mrs. Vesna Pećanac be admitted to Montenegrin citizenship and thus establish a public-legal relationship with the state of Montenegro," Bečić stated in his explanation.
