A three-day conference on the topic of investigative journalism in the field of environmental protection began tonight with the screening of the documentary film "Fires in Montenegro: Causes and Consequences".
The conference is part of a project organized by the Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro Center (CIN-CG) in cooperation with the Balkan Research Regional Network (BIRN) and the weekly Monitor.
Before the screening of the film, the executive director of CIN-CG Milka Tadić Mijović said that the conference was "the finale of a big project that lasted two years". "He showed that the state of the environment is very, very worrying and that we have a long way to go to improve opportunities," said Tadić Mijović.
The documentary is the work of CIN-CG journalist Đurđa Radulović. The Montenegrin Society of Ecologists (CDE) is also a collaborator on the project.
After the screening of the film, there was a discussion of the participants on the topic of fires in Montenegro.
The conference "Significance of media freedom for chapter 27 and the process of European integration" will be opened tomorrow by Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, head of the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro.
Oana Kristina Popa, editor-in-chief and spokeswoman for Reporters Without Borders Pauline Ades-Mevel and Tadić Mijović.
Among the other participants of the conference are the Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, the former German ambassador Gudrun Štajnaker, environmental activists from the country and the region and many others.
