Adriatic 42 bought a used floating dock in Turkey

The company Adriatic 42 from Tivat - the new concessionaire of the shipyard port in Bijela, announced today the purchase of a 180-meter long floating dock with which it will equip its future overhaul shipyard for super and mega yachts in Boka Kotorska.

The company did not announce the value of this investment, nor any more details about everything, except that the builder of the dock they bought is the Turkish shipyard Hat-San Shipyard from Altinova.

"The floating dock is 180 meters long, 37 meters wide and has a carrying capacity of 10.000 tons, which allows it to accommodate the largest yachts in the world. The Adriatic 42 consortium fulfills its obligation to Montenegro by providing this multi-million dollar investment that will enable the highest standards of quality, innovation and service in our upcoming activities," the PR agency reported the statement of Adriatic 42's CEO, Paul John Gray.

This company, as stated, will turn the former Bijela shipyard into a "world-class destination for overhaul, maintenance, repair and servicing of superyachts", and they expect the work to be completed in 2022. The Government of Montenegro granted a 30-year concession to the Shipyard White. The concession was given to a consortium consisting of the company Drydocks World, part of the DP World group from the United Arab Emirates, and Adriatic Marinas - Porto Montenegro.

According to this arrangement, the concessionaire has the obligation to implement an investment program in the development of new repair capacities, worth at least 20 million euros, within three years of taking over the location in Bijela. The dock that the Tivat company bought in Turkey is second-hand and was built for its own use in 2017 by the Hat-San shipyard from the city of Altinovo on the coast of the Sea of ​​Marmara in northwestern Turkey.

By the way, Hat-San has been building such floating docks of the HS-10 type, with a lifting capacity of 10.000 tons, since 2014 and so far has built several of them for the Turkish and foreign markets in Abu Dhabi and Denmark. The dock arriving in Bijela is also equipped with two mobile electrohydraulic cranes with a capacity of 10 tons each.

By the way, such docks in Turkey are built according to project documentation certified by the renowned Japanese ship register NKK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai). This dock will be the first vessel of its kind to arrive in Montenegro after 1981, when the former Tivat military shipyard Arsenal received a newly built floating dock with a capacity of 3.500 tons, which was then built for the people of Tivat in Trogir.

In addition to the floating dock from Turkey, the company Adriatic 42, for the needs of its new repair center for super and mega yachts in Bijela, also contracted the purchase of a brand new travel-lift (mobile boat hoist) which can be lifted from the sea to the shore for repair, even on short distances. routes within the shipyard circle, to transport ships weighing up to 720 tons.

"Teams of the Adriatic 42 company in Bijela and Dubai are working on collecting construction permits so that everything will be ready for the arrival of the floating dock in Montenegro by the end of April 2022," the company announced yesterday.
