In Montenegro, in 2020, almost five people a day died as a result of tumors, the Institute for Public Health (IJZ) announced.
On the occasion of February 4th, the World Day Against Malignant Diseases, the IJZ stated that there were 3,2 thousand new cases of cancer patients in Montenegro that year.
"This means that one case was registered in less than three hours, and almost five people were dying a day," the IJZ stated on its Facebook page.
They said that, when it comes to age, citizens between the ages of 50 and 64 get sick the most.
"This means that we have to prepare a social response and a health care system, in order to adapt it to the needs of these people. We need to promote healthy aging and change the prejudices we have about the elderly", said the IJZ.
