"Freedom" was not protected by the state as a cultural asset

The monument "Sloboda" on Pinješ in Ulcinj, dedicated to fallen fighters in the Second World War, is not under the jurisdiction of the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property.

This was answered by the Administration to "Vijesta". Questions were sent to them in November last year, regarding the whitewashing of the monument during the arrangement of the location in front of the obelix.

"The 'Freedom' monument on Pinješ, Ulcinj (SUBNOR, dedicated to all those who died in the wars of liberation against the occupiers and domestic traitors) does not have the status of a protected cultural asset, and in this regard, the issue in question is not within the competence of the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Assets", the answer reads in to which it is also stated that in that case the provisions of the Law on Monuments are applied, which prescribe that the Municipality, through the local administration body, ensures the protection of monuments on its territory.

"However, in order to preserve and present the monument in question, which represents a valuable memorial object from the NOB period, the Administration will submit to the Municipality of Ulcinj its expert opinion with interventions, in order to carry out the conservation treatment of its cleaning", the letter states with an obvious oversight. since the monument was built in the XNUMXs, not during the NOB.

President of the Municipality of Ulcinj Aleksandar Dabović at an appropriate ceremony, on November 7 last year, he opened a landscaped location in front of the monument, which was half painted over.

In the photos that Dabović posted on his Facebook profile, you could see the landscaped location and a half-painted monument decorated with red balloons. As could be seen, the ceremony was attended by a small number of citizens.

"News" from Dabović's office did not receive an answer at the time as to why during the ceremonial opening of the micro-location on Pinješ near the Freedom monument there were no state or anti-fascist signs, why the monument was half-painted and whether the Municipality asked the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property or some other institution whether can perform any works on the monument.

However, the ceremony caused the indignation of certain locals and parties, because it was held on the day when 78 years ago, 39 people from Ulcinj were killed in a devastating bombing.

In Ulcinj on November 7, 1943, during the bombing, according to the available data, at least 39 locals died, 20 of whom were children.

In response, the political party Forca announced that that day was a day of mourning for Ulcinj because 39 residents lost their lives, including twenty children from the Kasmi, Lamoja, Zejnelaga, Pufja, Ušaka, Lazoja, Raičević, Mavrić, Stojanović families. , Caušević and Jovović.

They listed the names of the innocent victims of the bombing on November 7, 1943 and pointed out that they should be engraved on the monument on Pinješ.
